Anyone knows what type of form that’s placed inside of giti p10 which apparently reduces the noise? Importantly any shops in KV is doing this…😝😝😝

Those foams if not mistaken come factory fitted as options for some premium tires.
If you want to do it DIY, may ask those doing sound dampening shops on acoustic foam which can be used in tires internal.
They should got some idea which foam is suitable or buy it from Taobao, usually marketed as EV tire acoustic foam.
FYI, they are pro & con, the con = tire weight will increase and may impact fuel consumption and slower pickup.

Dear Sifus,

My X50 Flagship's original 215/55R18 Continental UC6 (haven't changed since I bought the car) are at ~45,0000km and the tyre shop recommend to change because the tyre year make was in 45th week of 2020 and can cause "hardening after 3 years".. However, threadwear indicator still looks like ~1-2mm above the minimum threshold bump.

1. Does this make sense to change? I'm hearing mixed opinions about this and the shop is bullshiting about the hardening

Thanks so much, sifus!  thumbup.gif

Your money, your car, your safety, so ultimate decisions is yours.

My opinion is depends on the tire condition and driving style... since some mfg only recommend change after 6 years, some 7 years, some 10 years. there is also difference between mfg date, storage, and actual fitting on the car.. a tire can be mfg in 2020, stored till 2022 and then only fitted on the car.

A tire shop is a business, technically what they said is not wrong, but they want you to change the tires since it's $$$ for them. We have not seen nor touch your tire, so for that you and the shop has a better assessment in that aspect.

If you have the extra $$$, then by all means change it.

In terms of road noise, based on my experience Toyo CR1 is significantly better (less noise) than Michelin Primacy 4.

Yes, agree. Nowadays Michelin Primacy only good in wet & dry braking, if talk about comfort, silent tire even the cheaper Toyo CR1 SUV did better.

Toyo got many models, outside selling not the same model and usually more better.
Example like Yokohama, Subaru Xv CKD factory tires using Yokohama BlueEarth E70, but outside Yokohama is selling the AE61 model which is even more better and cheaper compare to factory fitted tires. You need to ask what model they are selling outside tires shop, not all Toyo models are bad.

Hello sifu,

I’m looking for quieter tyres for my Honda City 2015, however, also want to have sufficient stability and grip. My driving style is average. I don’t speed much, average speed 80kmph, max 120kmph.

What would you recommend? The workshop nearby recommended Goodyear ATM2 or Maxguard.

Thank you.

First of all, there is no perfect tires and what is your budget and what tire size? Honda City got 2 different tire size depending on spec.

Hi, I just noticed my tayar suddenly got a bulge... I changed this tayar last year around December so its still quite new... mileage probably about 20k only... its a Continental CC7 195/55R15...

Question is.. is this bulge concerning? will my tayar be at risk of bursting? or is it a normal thing and i don't have to worry too much about it?

I would bring to a tayar shop to check but just also asking here for opinion to cross check later with what the tayar shop tells me...

Oh and if I'm not mistaken this tayar got punctured before and was patched internally... not sure if that info has any relevancy though...

I thought about that but stupid me go and throw away the receipt already... don't think the tayar shop still willing to honor the warranty without the receipt proving that I changed my tayar in their shop...?

hello sifu, need some opinions on my next tyre choices

I'm driving xv2, stock came with Yokohama e70, size 225/60/17, times up for change already. I find my e70 noisy so hope to get something lower noise

so far i shortlisted a few that are within my budget, i hope can control my budget at somewhere 2k ish if possible, so michellin and pirelli should be out of budget

1. Conti UC , almost pulled trigger on this but i saw threadwear is low
2. Toyo CR1, heard some good comments on this but hv a bit concern with its wet performance
3. Yokohama ae61, saw people commented it is better than e70

so what you guys will recommend?

Hello, my tyre size is 185/55R16.
I’d just like a set of affordable tyres (hopefully =< RM500 for a pair) that produce much less road noise. Current tyres are Goodyear Excellence.

Thanks.

Mine from UC6 (got it from brand new car) to Toyo CR1. If u really care about wet traction, stay out from UC6, that is the worst tyres I ever used for wet traction / heavy rain, almost like Achilles ATR sport 2 for wet.

I doubt the recently launch UC7, MC7 had tremendous improvement except only those YouTubers praise that cz got free donuts. If u read in FB, many user even give negative review for MC6 for wet. Dry ok but wet is not Continental Malaysia tyre strong point.

Use almost 20k km plus for CR1, it is a quiet tyres and better wet than UC6. If budget permit, take Michelin tyre which excel in wet.

Anyone using Goodyear Assurance Maxguard? Ayam using GY Assurance Triple max for my City (185/55/R16) at the moment and it's about time to replace them.

Triplemax macam wears out very fast.
