I don't know if this is OT, but I doubt it is.

I recently purchased a Razer Barracuda from...well let's just leave him anonymous for now, all I can say that he is a very trusted seller from LYN. I received it today, took it out of the box, hooked to up and was about to put in on my head when it broke!



The whole ear-piece broke from the unit. I was...well, devastated. I contacted the guy that sold it to me, he said he wanted to inform me of the "right" way to put it on my head, but didn't make it in time, he also added that it has happened to another customer, the same thing! Has anyone else had this problem before?

Another thing, my DA mouse. The Razer eXactmat, especially the "Speed" side, totally destroyed the mouse-feet, it feels like I'm grinding the mouse-feet. The "Control" side is much better. And have you noticed that you can't turn the center scroll wheel when the right-mouse button is depressed, well, this may not be so important but it could be classified as a design flaw.

What I'm trying to say is, I pay alot for these Razer stuff, assuming that their good. But frankly, I've lost confidence in them lately. I may get banged by fanboys and such, but I'm trying to voice out here. Anyone else facing quality problems with Razer stuff?

wahh.. i feel u.. sure damn pain rite after spending 300 bucks on some headset, n breaks apart when putting it on for the first time.. IMO, u should get a replacement for that barracuda.. if tht doesn't help, maybe u should try razersupport, but make sure u have your receipt, or watever as proof of purchase..

.. my previous db also faulty, right click cant click properly.. so hard to click.. so sent back to razer.. got new one.. my previous exactmat, use use until got 2 worn off lines on the smooth n control side... n i got a replacement exactmat from razer (they sent me a new one without asking me to send the faulty one back) .. hehe..

and for my tarantula.. somehow the usb ports wun work wif my thumbdrive, ipod, printer, etc etc.. only my db, n other stuff tht requires power works on the 2 usb ports only.... so i may be returning it to razer to get a new one.. hehe.. tht aso depends on whether i want to or not ..

but anyhow, im still happy with them coz they replaced my faulty stuff without having to go thru so much hassle..

Well, I'm definitely gonna send it back..duh. 1-to-1 replacement. But I'm seriously considering a refund, I don't want to pay RM 300 for something that has a serious design flaw and could break anytime! What do you guys think?

sorry to hear ur predicament...but ur not alone....the razer barracuda headset has a reputation of breaking actually. theyre not known for their durability...but more for the lack of.

the next time u intend to spend that kinda money on gaming headphones i would strongly recommend u forego "gaming" headphones totally and get the Audio Technica A500 + a cheap mic. the A500 costs roughly RM352 inclusive of shipping from bluetin.com (but not inclusive of taxes which should only be a few bucks more). added up it comes out roughly the same price as a barracuda if not slightly more. and sound better too.

EDIT: just realized...not bluetin.com.

i meant www.audiocubes.com which is based in Japan.

bluetin.com is based in singapore and they also have the A500 and might be cheaper to get from bluetin.com.

Hrmm, thanks for the advice dude. I'll try to get a refund. I'll take ur recommendation into consideration. I had a Audio-Technica M30, until my younger brother blew the speakers, well that's what brought me to where I am today..lolz...life sure is weird.

Wow. Sorry to hear that. I'm using the DA, and no problems so far with the right mouse button...... maybe because I don't intensely game on my PC anymore.

But it now makes me think twice about getting the Piranha!

stay away from gaming headphones altogether....seriously.

Yeah, pretty much. Can't help it tho. I haven't heard of problems like this with Logitech stuff tho. Sure, Razer has bling bling, "For Gamers. By Gamers"...but in the end, I think Logitech makes better quality stuff, they may lack in performance and comfort, but I think Logitech make better quality stuff.

sorry to hear that story of urs. I am indeed, is not surprise by the news. I think I wrote on this thread or somewhere else, about how fragile is this thing. I am on my second Barracuda; my first one died on me without no obvious reason. There are few complaints found on Newegg as well.

So anyone who is opting for Barracuda, I suggest you wait for Piranha and go for that one. I even mention here that I want to sell my Barracuda and get Piranha instead. I believe Piranha will be well-enhanced after few flaws found on Barracuda. Plus, Piranha is much smaller and lighter, which make it less fragile ( I wrote like a paragraph why the weight affect it's fragileness, and I am not going to write it down here).

I used couple of Razers too, but Barracuda is the only I found flawed. Others working fine up to today (DA, ExactMat, Krait).
