Hello. I'm just wondering whether should I study biomedical science in UTAR or food science and nutrition in UCSI University.
Well, what concerns me is the career prospect in these 2 courses, can anyone plz tell me which 1 is better?
cry.gif
Is English standard in UCSI quite bad?
Is the lecturers for the food science course good?
If I study biomedical science, do I really have the chance to do research in future? Very confused. rclxub.gif
I don't know the ways lecturers in UCSI teach the students good?
Anyone Plz Help Me
*
Lol. I was in the same position as u a few years back. sweat.gif
I remembered i listed out all the pro's and con's of each courses and of UTAR and UCSI.

But ended up in UCSI cos of scholarship.

Hm..english standard..depends which group u hang out with, the english ed or the chinese ed.
But generally, i think it's not bad. Equal mixture of both.
Lecturers for food sc are okay. Some are really good like Dr Lee, but some are just big nono (like Gugga).
Depending on lecturers, some really spoon feed u, while some expects u to do ur own homework b4 lecture.
Malaysia is not a good place to do research. The govt doesn't encourage R&D.
Most Msia biomed or food sc grad usually ends up doing sales or QA. sad.gif

But i think it's all up to u. Just gather as much info as u can, sit down quietly and write out the pro's and con's.. smile.gif

@Kuro91

depends on the courses and how far are you from the minimum requirement i think

@gajah91

a quick way is to activate low-fi version and read through 23 pages of this thread

for example, lets say i want to study foundation in science

the requirement is
SPM / O-Levels or its equivalent = 5 Credits inclusive of Mathematics

English Language Requirements
A distinction (A1 or A2) in SPM / UEC English, MUET Band 5, or a score of 213 (Computer based) / 550 (Written based) / 79-80 (Internet based) in TOEFL, or Band 5.5 in IELTS. If English Language requirements are not fulfilled, additional English module(s) must be taken at UCSI.

i got A2 in my english, 3 credits, D for my maths and others is D..

so will i be accepted ??

Hello.. Need some help here. smile.gif
I've just finished my AUSMAT course and I'm interested in the food science and nutrition course. In fact, thats the only course I'm interested in so far.
Just wanna know about the lecturers. Are they good? Able to communicate well in English?
How's the learning experience in the course like?
I've been into the labs.. seems impressive.
Anything else I need to know about this course?
Thanks for your help! biggrin.gif

lol. Food sc students definitely can get into food industry. If we cant get in, who else can? haha...
U usually end up in QA or R&D (which is very rare)... or u can also become nutritionist.

u are damn right about the hidden fees.
When i enrolled into ucsi, it was stated in their brochure that the fees is 58k for 3 years for food sc.
But after i got in, it all adds up to more than 70k!!! shocking.gif
A lot of hidden fees such as the lab fees, facility fees etc etc.. So, u need to ask the counselor thoroughly, ask him/her to list out all the fees.
Hm...if money is your constraint, i think UTAR is a better option. If u're interested in food industry, studying biochemistry can get u into it too.

Lecturers are ok. Some speak really good english but some english are very 'malaysian'.
U need to be a malaysian to understand them. lol.
Sometimes i see my international friends struggling to understand but malaysian no problem lar...haha

Lol. E-Advantage time table always clashes, it's not so acurate.
I think the one they posted up in Registration dept's notice board is more reliable.

I remembered my timetable clashes a few semesters back, and i emailed my lecturer (who so happens to be the head of faculty).
She asked me refer to marketing, something wrong with E-Advantage it seems. wink.gif

No la, they update the Timetables already on the website. It's always been accurate for me ( the one on eAdvantage). I've only got 4 subjects left and 3 out of the 4 clash T.T
