I'm still hesitating... Am using a mbp 13" 2017 with i5 8gb ram and 512gb storage. I usually just use my laptop to for excel + ppt + PS AI LR to create posters and to edit photos + web browsing.
Although my current mbp is good enough to fulfill my needs, it has been giving me a lot of problems like the stage light effect and the butterfly-keyboard issues since 2 years ago. I've changed the top case and screen twice but the problems just come back from time to time.
If you guys were in my shoes, would you change to 14" mbp or just stick to the 2017 mbp?
u changed the screen and top case (battery?).
i have the screen problem for my 2017 i5 16GB RAM 512GB storage too. The screen will have a 'ghosting' effect after it is turned on for some time. the effect will go away for some time and come back again recurringly.
I changed the top case for 3 times in total also due to the battery bloated issue also. the first two time changed of battery did not help in the problem as apple claimed that there is no issue detected based on the run test. if i insisted to change the display,i need to pay for it which the cost to me i would rather get a new one instead. however, the last battery changed i had done early this year, they reflashed my macbook pro by reinstalling the macOS, suprisngly after that my macbook pro is ok so far. no more having the ghosting issue.
I had used it more than 4 years now, it is still a capable device although it is on Intel processor. to my daily tasks, it is more than sufficent.
so i do not have plan to upgrade any time soon too despite that the new 14" MBP is really cool.
