I guess the redesign is at 2022 as was rumored after all. Disappointing. But I am so glad the magsage is back.

I wonder if Apple is going to stick out the 13” to be a base model like in the past where they will never upgrade.

QUOTE(dikae @ Oct 19 2021, 11:03 AM) yea looks boring, whole thing black lol I see. If that’s the case then I won’t be getting a MBP afterall. The 13” was a nice standard entry for me to “feel” like a Pro when I’m owning one think 13" will stick around for a while before discontinuing, dont think they will make it base model though... maybe in 1-2 years they will be removed from the store entirely Buying a 14” now is like buying a 15” with discrete graphics back in the Intel days. There is really no difference between the 14” and 16” other than portability and higher res for the bigger screen not to forget a hell lot heavier. |

QUOTE(dikae @ Oct 19 2021, 11:10 PM) Yea I have colleagues using old mbp too and still going strong now so they have no plans to upgrade.. some initially waited for this redesign 14" but when the price tag goes 8.8k for base model, they decided to skip as well..quite steep imp but if look into all the goodies they put into this, then it's reasonable.. Same here. If they don't keep the base 13" mbp for the M2 for next year I might as well move over to mba. I have never been a pro user for the mbp |

QUOTE(tehoice @ Oct 20 2021, 12:15 PM) hmmm, it's a personal choice, if i dont need it now (more for future proof reason), i would prefer to save the money up front, go with m1 only. Agree. But I worry about all the future compatibility so I am still holding out for M2. Will be safest for the next 5 years haha4-5 years down the road, they will definitely have something better and thus making the "better than M1 chip" version cheaper too. but again, that's my personal preference. for a light user like myself, no regret getting the MBA M1 version last month won't really need to upgrade easily for the next 5 years, for the tasks that i'm doing on my mba. QUOTE(ratloverice @ Oct 20 2021, 08:43 PM) Budget is not an issue... I can get RM600+ discount so might consider getting a 1TB ones. It's just i can't decide whether or not I should change. Need some time to make up my mind. If budget is not an issue I will opt for the 14" and put in a M1 Max chip. But you should probably still wait for some reviews and benchmark test before taking the splurge. |

QUOTE(lesteralus @ Oct 21 2021, 11:56 AM) Guys, do you have an idea when will the new Macbook Pros be available here in MY? I was initially planning to get the 13in M1 with 16GB RAM, but the price of the new 14in base model is not too far from it. Any thoughts? There are a list of apps that Apple listed for their performance benchmark as a guidance. If there is a chance you would use it, you should go for M1 pro if you have a limited budget. Otherwise go all out on the M1 max to future proof your laptop. This post has been edited by soitsuagain: Oct 21 2021, 08:12 PM |

QUOTE(Zenph @ Oct 25 2021, 11:40 PM) Considering Some reviews are saying the M1 Max 32GPU could run like a RTX 2080. Dota 2 definitely not an issue haha.13inch MacBook Pro m1 And 14inch MacBook Pro m1 pro I have the 2016 MacBook Pro and the battery life has traumatised me… I heard the 2013 MacBook Pro is has super good battery, but the 14 inch has pro motion My budget is not an issue but I’m having a dilemma here ! And also would like to game dota 2 if possible hahaa |

QUOTE(westlife @ Oct 28 2021, 06:01 AM) yup, unless one really wants the macbook pro becos of Yup. Seriously fanless design on air? Major bummer for me though I would love that lightweight 1.27kg. Also, the one thing I would hope Apple transfer to the 2022 13" Mbp if there is one is the magnetic charger...I really don't care about the rest....1) flat design instead of tapered-wedge on air (pesonally i prefer this) 2) longer battery life of 20 3) better mic 4) better speaker 5) touchbar 6) fan design instead of fanless on air which gives slightly better sustainable performance based on the rumours, it is good to wait till the next m1 macbook air upgrade. it may have mini-LED which is going to be a game changer. https://www.macrumors.com/2021/10/22/2022-m...-display-rumor/ |

QUOTE(dikae @ Dec 15 2021, 12:25 PM) I actually mention both the trackpad on the MacBook and also an external trackpad (rm489)…however you don’t need the external trackpad if you don’t use an external keyboard… Looks like the majority new MBP owners bought in education store. Apple saw how skewed it is and closed the loophole lol. Cheapskate fellas. It’s hard to use external keyboard and switch your hand to move on the MacBook trackpad, you need both side by side hence the external Oh yea now need to verify with UNIdays lol, a lot already purchased their macs anyways.. Looks like they also changed their policy to only student or staff…no longer accepting parents who fund their kids in the k12 education…so it’s either you are studying or lecturing now |

QUOTE(dikae @ Jan 21 2022, 11:32 AM) Yea I’ve always had the assumption that the battery degrades faster the more we leave it plugged in, but recent readings show otherwise…there were few other forums who suggested the same as link above, so I’m really curious does plugging in really lower the cycle count and bypasses the battery usage… Don't. I have tried before. Cycle count is indeed low but it may caused an even bigger problem. Bloated battery. |
