its a never-ending goose chase to wait for this and that. By the time you're ready to get the card at your expected time, another will appear and make you doubt ur decision and makes you wait longer.

4. But confused with the talks about... rclxub.gif
ATI 2900PRO (DX10.1, 512Mb, faster than 8800GTS) [Cheaper !!]
&
XFX Fatal1ty 8800 GTS 320Mb (faster than 8800GTX when OC???, OMG shocking.gif )
Help needed. Someone with an angelic light shining upon them. Thou shalt be rewarded in Heaven for helping the needy. Like me. Straight answers appreciated. (E.g Best if you ...) not like (E.g I think ur machine sucks, better wait until 2009)

I also same boat as you. Can't be bothered to wait for 8800GT. Need to play DX10 games NOW oredi, so got item 3 from bulker. The wait is killing me.

Assuming benchies are fairly true, 8800gts 320mb oc does well against the 2900xt. Plus my max reso is 1280x1024 so maybe no need the 512MB vram.

xfx 8800gts 320mb faster than gtx? perhaps. U sure u wanna oc the card with that stock hsf? there's another RM300 for a HR03 plus with a decent fan...

But if you can wait just wait till end yr la, see what they offering then.

AoiNatsume is right. theres no point waiting. technology is just advancing too fast. if im you, i'll grab it, enjoy it for a year or 2 before starting another round of gc hunting again.

8800 GT cannot do triple SLI

We've learned a quite disturbing fact. The soon to be launched, Geforce 8800GT won't feature support for the upcoming Triple SLI.

This will be a feature reserved only for the high-end cards but we have confirmed a few details for the this and will follow up on this one as soon as we can. It looks like Triple SLI will be a high-end card feature only and it won't work on slower cards.

You will need a new 780i chipset to get Triple SLI operational and this chipset comes in November.

Not too suprising cause 8800GT only comes with 1 SLI connector.

hmm the shader could be even higher as gpuz doesnt detect seperate shader clocks...

it just follows the ratio of original clocks and then it multiplies with the core...

If that's the core can still push futher to 1Ghz, we will have 2500 shader clocks speed. Ok that's insane.

the fact is now that DX10 is not properly optimized yet. Easier way to understand is, most dx10 games uses more of the gpu power that it supposed to. Investing alot on extreme GPU solutions isnt worth it as of now esp when your main purpose is to "optimize" DX10 games. DX10 is not matured yet and alot of patch/fix will be released soon for games and DX itself. Just imagine spending RM5-6k on GFX itself only to know that you need only half of its power to run in the future. Then a year later your RM5-6k investment is only worth RM1-2k, worth it?

Future? no, no way. you can't even talk for future value in technology since it changes very fast. only can say whether the current product fit your purpose in that moment, if yes then just get it, if not then forget abt it.

Tried Lost planet on my pc and my pc specs are as below
Intel Core 2 Duo 4400 2.0Ghz
2x1gb patriot ddr800 ram
Gigabyte 8800GTS 320mb
19 inch samsung monitor
What a dissapointment, spend around 1k++ on my 8800GTS  and even when i put everything to low it's still lagging like shit,if i knew this would happen i would have save a little bit longer and get a GTX..really regreted getting it...just advice for those out there who's planning to get an 8800GTS to play games such as Lost planet and Bioshock..

Thats weird.. according yer specs u shld running LostPlanet very smoothly, esp. considering my rig oredi runs smoothly on it with max details at 1680x1050res.

What o/s are u running on?... if yer gaming on Vista, u shld get the latest patch of LostPlanet, coz it increased it DX10 mode performance alot, or if yer on XP like me, no probs here, running great till i juz finished the game yesterday.. lol

Cheers biggrin.gif

yea, thats seriously weird. Something must be wrong somewhere, check my siggy below, able to run Lost planet rather smoothly(min 30fps average 50-60fps), and not to mention, its an AMD rig. Everything max out only shadows are set to low.
