shader score and oc on gc so low.. embarrassment for spending RM250 on the HR03 plus and a decent fan...kekeke... LOLZ...

might as well use stock cooler and run the old riva tuner 2.03 then his itchy hand wouldnt have touch the shader clocks and actually down clocked the ratio....LOLZ...

score would have been way higher LOLZ...

if VT-Ten would have put a Quad proc in his benchies and ran at 3.6ghz would have beaten this LOLZ.

2 8800gtx with HR03 plus getting beat by 2 8800gts stock cooling...LOLZ
Goes something like this

Q6600 with XIGmatek HTC 12 something Price RM1000
P5n32eSLi Price 700
2 x XFX 8800gts price 2100 stocking cooling

Beating ianho benchmark with huge ass coolers and a downclocked gtx that cost by atleast RM3500  more... PRICELESS.

tongue.gif LOLZ

Why you drag me into the picture? If you think that you could beat him, go ahead.
If VT-Ten this, If VT-Ten that... I say, if I'm cstkl1, i would plug in MY QX6800@3.2 and put it MY P5n32-e-SLI and MY 2xAsus 8800 Ultra, overclock it and shut Ian up!

Forummers, I apologise if I sound sarcastic, but I'm really on my nerves if someone used me in this sort of "discussion".

Hello ! thanks for the info but i still have some little questions !

1. using my SLI in XP will have higher performance?
2. I use Rivatuner to adjust fan speed in Vista, but only one of my card is adjusted !!! how?
3. Both of my cards are XFX 8800gts 320mb but different bios version, do i need to flash to same bios version to get better performance?

thanks!

*
1. Yes.
2. Rivatuner does not support adjusting fan speed in Vista. As of now, only XP is able to do it.
3. No harm using different bios. but make sure you know what you are doing if you plan to flash it.

its a never-ending goose chase to wait for this and that. By the time you're ready to get the card at your expected time, another will appear and make you doubt ur decision and makes you wait longer.
*
AoiNatsume is right. theres no point waiting. technology is just advancing too fast. if im you, i'll grab it, enjoy it for a year or 2 before starting another round of gc hunting again.

- 3 heat-pipes, 1000-3200RPM, 34dB
3,200rpm is kinda high. I suspect is kind loud. say, how loud (or rather quiet) is 34db?

Quoted adopted from guru3d with regards to the xfx 8800gts fatal1ty.

QUOTE
Overclocking, in case you noticed it... we didn't include any results. There was no point to do so. Adding a 25 extra MHz on the ROP or shader domain would result in a crash. The memory was capable of doing another 50 MHz but that was pretty much it. So this card has been optimized and tweaked to death already. Let me assure you, there's not much room left to squeeze some more out of it.

i guess any a3 revision of 8800gts is able to do that speed with some help of rivatuner. whistling.gif

yeap, it really depends of individual taste.

my personal opinion on 88GT vs 88GTS 320
88GT:
single slot solution. more clearance on other PCI devices.
louder fans? (since thinner fans needs to spin faster than fatter ones to produce same amount of cfm). anyone beg for differ?
better benchmark figures
cheaper than gts (guess this is the main selling point)
more memory compared to gts (handy for upcoming DX10 games)

88GTS 320:
fat!
thicker heat sink (added cost?)
lower benchmark figures. anyone can tell whether im runnin GT or GTS while gaming?
more expensive. nevermind the initial selling price, since they have stopped production anyway.
handicapped by the limited memory.

If someone is upgrading from Geforce 7 series or 85/86 series to 88gt, then they'll notice a significant improvement (applies on 22" LCD or bigger screens). But if one is selling his/her 88gts to get 88gt, imo, there's not much gain rather than adding numbers to the benchmark scores.

my 2 cents.

Cheers.

im not an audiphile, but i agree with madman.
audigy 2 and above (except for Xtreme auido) are good, as they are using EMU10k2 sound processors which supports up to EAX 4.0

if you wanna be a hardcore, go for X-fi models (again, minus the Xtreme audio) to enjoy EAX 5.0. But hor... i think there's no games out there optimized for EAX 5.0 yet. i might be wrong thou....

I have Audigy 2 but my GCs took all the space for PCI so I can't use... I used SB all the while..... What I'm trying to quote is built-in sound nowadays are better than last time.... I'm not so into audio... At least decent performance will be enuf...

Of coz sound cards are better than built-in... But for those ppl that doesn't much care about audio, decent performance will be ok....

How about u try having 2 GTX's or Ultras (or just 2 GCs that have 2 slot cooling) stuck in ur mobo and those GCs just block every PCI slot u have, then u will understand that feeling.... Then u will have to resort to built-in whether u like it or not.....
*
the reason some say sound cards are better than in-built are becoz they have dedicated sound processor. this will take some load off from the cpu for sound processing. another reason is in-built cards will have alot of inteference within the mobo itself. the only advantage is newer inbuilt sound cards supports 5.1 (some even 7.1) speaker system where as older sound cards may only supports up to 5.1

check my siggie, i've got 8800GTS in sli mode and a SB Live! (very old sound card) and i dont have any problem with it cramping in the middle of 2 heat-emitting creatures or what so ever.

err... i think we are sailing too far off from this thread. lets stick back to the discussion before moderators/TS start making noise.

cheers.

but nvidia cards
u only use the primary cards mem...
from my previous experience, the system will follow the settings of the slower card, irregardless of position.

can. even 88gts sli can pawn single gtx. but due to the memory limitation of the 88gts 320, the gts sli can outperform single gtx at native resolution of 22". anything greater than that, the gtx will perform better due to the availability of 768mb.

The thing is, the GTS 320mb is still a good gaming card. It became lousy when 2 things happened - 8800GT and crysis.
hey bro i get what you mean now. my sli setup oc 648core / 2000mem / 1674 shader got only low 20s fps in crysis. setting was 1680*1050 high setting. and i was using only directx 9. cry.gif

tried using dx10. the result? too embarrased to tell.

rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif  rclxm9.gif  Crysis will be available today. I will be collecting my pre ordered Limited Edition today. Cant wait to play it with SLI enabled. Dont forget to get the latest 169.09 driver. 169.09 enables SLI for Crysis. They say SLI will increase framerates by about 40-50% at time of launch. Crytek will then release a patch within 2 weeks to increase SLI performance even more. Looks like I'll be taking my own sweet time exploring the 1st stage, shooting down all the trees n playing around in the environment.  laugh.gif Then after the patch comes out oni let rip with full SLI performance.

yea, i pre-ordered the LE too. but it'll prolly only reach me by 20th. cry.gif
man i wish they could get it posted earlier.

thanks for the tip ian, will get my GTS driver updated. thumbup.gif
