I plan to get a new shower heater to replace a national brand that i've been using for 6-7 years. Water still very hot but the pump very noisy already and flow getting weaker. So now i want one with very strong pump. staying at top floor of apartment (11th) and also water quality problem, very dirty water (water tank) from Syabas. so are there any water heater that has STRONG pump and also filter (which can wash) to counter the dirty water problem?

Actually I am in the market to buy water heater. But the main difference now for me is whether to get one with pump or without pump, due to the massive price difference.
The existing water flow from shower head (no water heater installed) is quite strong, so I am wondering whether I really need one with pump. Does the water heater unit actually slow down the water level which would need me to get water heater with a pump?

I think the question is not whether "is the water strong enough at low pressure" but rather "can the water heater work well in low pressure (scale down the heat at low levels correctly)", cos i had a ciplak MIRA brand one that cooked me everytime i take bath at normal hr.. have to bathe at midnight.

Now using panasonic. Works great even at low pressure. Am paying condo rate of 1.38/L so if i use for long periods (washing hair) i purposely reduce the water volume to half to save $, and it won't burn me.

I would say as long as you don't have severe issues with low pressure you don't need a pump.

my previous water heater with built-in pump  was Alpha,  i satisfied with it. It last for 6 yrs

The new unit is BeeBest, as recommended by the shopkeeper, the most silent pump in the market, but the price almost the highest
unit = RM560
installation = rm70
shop = Tan Boon Meng

However, i really disappointed with their installation workmanship
Their task is install and go, they dont care how the layout...piping bend here and there...

Hi sincere1,

am planning to get one with silent pump. a shop is pushing a BeeBest to me, claiming 5 years warranty. Can you commend on your unit after 2.5 years in use? Is it true abt the 5-year warranty claim?

Many thanks...

Hi ceo684,

Added on December 29, 2011, 5:46 pmHi guys,

DH-3KP2MS
DH-3KD1MN

I'm quite attracted to these Panasonic models as they have

silent pump
42% energy saving
5-year warranty
soft touch on-off

I would like to hear from any owner of these models or similar Pana models to comment on their experience in using them, and do they live up to what they say on their boxes...

Many thanks.

I have installed Panasonic DH-3KP1M, costing $519, plus $70 installation (already has power point ready.) I think it is a good deal.

The unit is with pump, but it is really quiet even at night, more quiet than my older Alpha S200EP (but the newer Alpha's could be as quiet.) The pump is with a 5-year warranty, but to be fair, my older Alpha unit has been used for 7 years and is still in action. I think it is a tough fight here.

The best things I like is the 1-touch on-off BIG button-it will turn off water and power at the same time-really convenient; plus can choose to alternate hot and cold water with just one soft-touch button. Overall I am very happy with the unit.

Product specs can be viewed here:

http://www.panasonic.com.my/wps/portal/hom...rsystem/DH3KP1M

One thing needs caution: When the workers were installing the unit, they accidentally spoiled the ELCB button. Though it will not affect the operation of the unit, I still called up the Panasonic service center, and they sent a guy right on the next day. After inspection, found that the part will cost $6 but have to wait for it. I'm ok with it, so I will wait. Lessons learnt:

1. Ask the workers to be careful with the ELCB button during installtion.
2. Panasonic after-sale service is great.

After reading all the comments at this section, I finally bought Alpha Smart 18EP for my room. I'm really satisfied with the performance so far. The pump is not silent but the noise is acceptable. It comes with 6 colors and slim design.

I bought it at ESH Sri Rampai (based on a suggestion of 1 forumner here..smile.gif )

I went to jaya jusco recently.

the salesmen recommend panasonic because it is most durable (not much complaints)

I saw the display set alpha water heaters has all the knobs missing as people turn and twist the knobs. laugh.gif

panasonic knobs still have no problems. notworthy.gif

but one problem with pana is the water is not hot enough if you put on full water volume,.

It would not be wise to replace the water shower head with a rainshower type simply because the water pressure will drop and what you may get from the rainshower are just trickles of water. Even if you swap the original shower heads with after market types sometimes cause the same issue. Instant water heater's shower head is designed with the system's water pressure ability. In most cases the shower head's outlet are usually very narrow in order to create a higher pressure.

Just a heads up about my colleague using Alpha previously. One day he suddenly found his water heater kept switching off and on the heated water while bathing, and few days later when he called the electrician to check it, the guy found that the wires INSIDE the unit got frayed and was causing the problem due to the burnt contact.

The electrician mentioned that from the condition of the frayed wire, my colleague was lucky he wasn't electrocuted since he was still using it a few days after this problem occured. sweat.gif
