When compared between mac book and and ibook, i think i gonna choose ibook instead. In terms of weight, ibook is lighter. I'm a heavy user. I'm using this for my production stuff and this mac book hangs a lot of time!!!! For ibook, it never happens. Wonder anyone face the same problem as mine?

I used to feel the same like you about weight, but after looking at the specs the weight difference between a 12" iBook and a Macbook is only 70g. (2.2 vs. 2.27kg) which is really hard to differentiate. So I think the weight issue is really overblown although I can't say the same about stability, that could be a software or hardware issue that needs to be resolved. |

Has anyone got issues with the Macbook fan? Mine is speeding up quite frequently, plus the noise it makes are so irritating. I prefer to have a quieter Mac. Anybody got a solution, please?

When you guys run Onyx, do you usually backup your data? I am not sure whether I should be saving a copy of all my files or not coz I heard some users experience data lost after using Onyx...

Anybody got a solution, please? The reason is that your MacBook is heating up. Is usually goes to 70 degrees before the fan kicks in at full speed. You could avoid this by:- (a) Doing less intensive apps (no games, no flash, no photoshop) (b) Work in a cool air-con room. © Get a notebook cooler (doesn't do magic either, at best lowers 3-4 degrees) QUOTE(LeoDaVinci @ Mar 16 2008, 02:44 PM) When you guys run Onyx, do you usually backup your data? I don't the automated cleaning of caches. You should do a full backup though before embarking on a all out cleaning/tune-up of your Mac. You'll never know what will happen. |

QUOTE(easypeasy @ Mar 16 2008, 08:23 PM) QUOTE(allvin @ Mar 16 2008, 08:51 PM) no. RAM got ntg to do with the fan To explain things in a little more detail way, when you run intensive application for example games, the load on your CPU is much higher compared to surfing the web via Safari and therefore more heat will be produced from that. The fan has a sensor that will increase the RPM of the fan if it gets above certain level of temperature. You can try using your MacBook at a cooler place such as an air-conditioned room and see if it helps. |

If you absolutely hate the loud fan, here's an idea.
I once tried using ice cubes on the base of my MacBook. |

Haha... Everyone were waiting for that model.. I just got one macbook 4.1 but not pro.
Performace wise is ok.. but the thing i dislike is the bluetooth thingy on the taskbar. im using the logitech bluetooth mouse, when the mouse is connecting... if i click the bluetooth menu on the taskbar.. it takes sometime to load.. |
