Yea, that's one of the hazards you have watch out for. Haven't done it anymore. I doubt they will cover it under warranty tongue.gif!

Have you guys see the upcoming Dell E4200/E4300(im not so sure bout the number) that's due to be out in sept/0ct 08. I somehow feel that macbook is due for major redesign around the same time. I dont mind if there's not much different in hardware, but i wish for lighter macbook - 3 pounds like MBA will be so attrctive.

dell new latitute e series is cool too. I think that mac is just over exaggerated nowadays. for eg I went into the machines shop in mid valley that day. I saw they selling a mouse which cost rm59 for some unknown brand. That really puts me off. I can get a logitech one for like rm45.

machines shouldnt do that to their product u know inflated whatever they are selling. its so unfair and not price competitive just because mac is some sort of separate entity.

errhhh.... it's apple marrrr...and dell is never cool... dell is like ikea stuff for nerds who worry about price and warranty....

anyways... chicks will most probaly prefer Sony Vaio TZ over Macbook Air anytime... i was staring at a bunch of college girls with short skirts holding their Vaio TZ in their arms close to their chest the other day... was staring at the VAIO thinking in my head where the hell they get the money to buy a 7k+ flimsy laptop from? (seriously blush.gif )... nearly got a tight slap in the face (nolar, they just stared at me thinking i am a perv or something).. maybe they were thinking i was starting at their......... (seriously, i wasn't icon_question.gif )

Lol. Who cares if the chicks like it or not.

Anyways, MBA is not for me. I feel that with the specs it's a little underpower for my usage. To get 1.8GHz will cost a bomb instead. Meanwhile, MB is nice but its weight more than 2kg. However, if MB get major redesign for Intel Montevina update later on and weight less than 2kg (this is just wishful thinking - please dun flame me) it will be perfect.

To me, it is the underlying OS that matters most. I've suffered enough under Windows and moving on to Mac OS X is like being set free from prison. I came from a long history of using ultraportables, from Vaio U to UX, therefore moving to MBA is only natural to me. Plus the UX is severely underpowered, and moving up to MBA is a significant performance jump. I could only dream about doing movie encoding on the UX(yes, it can do it, albeit chugging along slowly with its pathetic Core Solo processor), but my MBA does it without breaking a sweat.

I move and travel a lot, hence the need for an ultraportables. The fact that is is the world's thinnest notebook is a bonus.

Well the only reason I install windows on my macbook is because of college work. Some of the program used are not available for osx sad.gif

Im getting another laptop next week (free!) so I might ditch windows on this macbook and use it purely for osx (like it supposed to laugh.gif)

That's also the exact reason why I went for Mac OS. The other thing I like about Mac is their trackpad. I can survive all day long without mouse.

Yes, you can. I'm not sure bout Office 08 but the previous edition installed fine. So did the iWork '08. Heck, even the the retail Leopard DVD will work.

In short, it is possible
