recently when i use my mb in my room
i realise there is some weird sound near where the processor is placed
the sound is like some electric kinda thing
"bzzz bzzz" sumthing like that
haha cannot define it clearly
but i'm perfectly sure it's not fan or hd sound
is it normal to happen?
does the processor have sound?
or sumthing wrong woth my logic board?
or maybe the speaker have problem?
the sound can only be heard in quiet place
very slow
i had to move my ear near the screen to hear it clearly
only when i restart my mb then the sound vanish

kapalterbang_737, have you performed any software update yet? i had the similar problems like yours last few weeks ago with my MBP. Safari hangs in several occasion which bothered a lot to me. So far the problem has been solved through software update and yet to see any related problems occur.

yup i've already updated all things

repairing disk permission
and then everything goes back to normal

kapalterbang_737, ntg to do with bootcamp  I running cool with bootcamp, and My safari don't have such issue. For the sound issue, I suggest you go to the apple store and have them check it.

Usually only 3 sound you can heard, one is the Fan (especially when you gaming), another 1 is hdd (barely can heard, usually i heard it once it booting) and last one is your optical drive (during playback dvd or vcd)

now my safari back on track
running normally
hehe wut a relief

yeap i notice all those 3 sounds
but mine spesel got 1 addition sound
haha
that sound really makes me worried
planning to send it to mac city after diz holiday
hope they have the solution

Hi user of Macbook.

I have some doubts in my mind and hope that macbook user can help me to answer all my doubts.

1. Is this a good time to grab macbook ? Or should I proceed to Macbook air ?
2. Let say I take 2.0Ghz Macbook, it comes with Combo drive and not DVD RW. Can I add some cash to change it ?

Thanks in advance.

1. it depends on what type of usage are u going to do with ur laptop. for me, macbook is sufficient enuff. but then u need to choose the right spec. i bought mine juz 2 weeks b4 apple upgraded to santa rosa!! so frustrated but still ok to fulfill my needs so far.this industry keep changing and we can't always keep up with it.so if u need it urgently, go grab one.hehe

2. i did ask the retailer about diz and they said its around 2k to change the combo drive to superdrive(not sure whether it's true or not).very pricy lor..

Beware! apple newbie about to post.

I'm considering getting a macbook or macbook pro for uni studies.
The price diference is really BIG between the MB and MBP, so i'm wondering if the mbp is worth the money. 9k isn't petty cash by any means.
I'm interested in a little photo editing as well as light-gaming, and i'm wondering if the MB with it's Intel GMA X3100 graphics processor is sufficient for that. I'm also curious about the real difference in performance between the MB & the MBP.

Besides that, apple bundles in Mac OS X v10.5 Leopard, iLife, Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac Test Drive and iWork '08 (30-day trial). Does this mean i have to go purchase the Microsoft Office and iWork software? if so, how much would that hurt my wallet and is it a definite MUST to purchase the Microsoft Office to do word processing in university? If iWork is sufficient, is the format Microsoft Word and Excel use compatible with the iWork? coz it's really essential that i can do my assignments and co-op wif other Windows users.

Any other relevant info is much appreciated

ya lor, agree with allvin, why choose 9k? the 7k mbp oredi good enuff(for me la.hehe)
if u tend to choose macbook, the mid range is complete already
the hdd can be change easily, so no need to pay extra rm700 just for the 160gb
except if u want the black colour, but i prefer white since it's already synonym with apple
for paper work i juz use ms office 04
presentation use iwork 08
still can wow my fren summore
hehe
anyway the choice is still up to you

Did you install your firmware correctly?
Try reformatting. I've seen quite a number of units with the same prob.

how to install correctly eh?
i'm still noob
hahah
btw it happens only after i boot into boot camp

mac city had formatted my macbook
but it cost me rm50 bcoz apple didn't cover software problem
i wanna try reformat the system but i dun have any space for backup
so i bought a WD 160gb to swap with the original hdd
bcos for the time being i cannot boot into os x
is there any advice from sifus here?
any precaution steps that i should take to avoid data missing?
can i juz swap the hdd and then recover all my data by using the stock 60gb hdd as an external hdd?
(swap hdd, install os on new hdd,and then put back data's from old hdd to the new one juz like external hdd)
is it possible to do so?
