Hi,

I'm quite new to Apple and currently I'm undecided whether to buy iWork'08 or Microsoft Office 2007 (which I can install in bootcamp). The price shouldn't be a problem as both are sold at about £40 each = RM280. iWork'08 is cool, can convert to pdf rather easily and not much difference with the office. Anyone would like to give an opinion?

Another thing is, is it just me or the programmes often crash under Leopard?

Can someone please confirm that we can't check Yahoo mail via Mail Macosx? I tried to set it up but it didn't work, so I had to resort to IzyMail instead.

£47.50 for AppleCare is dirt cheap!  It's not applicable to post graduate students is it? sad.gif

Applicable to whoever is connected to a higher institution in the UK, students, lecturers, tutors. Plus the web didn't ask for any proof of ID, simply put in your university name and voila! But of course you can only go to the HE website via a UK uni network, it doesn't work with the normal internet line. smile.gif

IIRC the people in macrumors said the Macbook comes together with the protection plan (Free I think, it's under the UK HE national agreement). £47.50 is the contract uplift, meaning they'll cover the cost for collect & return I suppose (it stated EMEA-CC, I don't know what it means). So from what I understand is you need to buy a Macbook/Pro/Air first before you can get the free ACPP and the £47.50 contract uplift discount. The cheapest single ACPP under HE discount is £157.45 for Macbooks and £220.90 for Macbook Pros. Normal price is £199 and £279 respectively.

It is indeed smile.gif Anyway is it legal if I buy loads of Macbooks via the HE discount and re-sell them at a 'slightly' higher price? tongue.gif

Has anyone got issues with the Macbook fan? Mine is speeding up quite frequently, plus the noise it makes are so irritating. I prefer to have a quieter Mac. Anybody got a solution, please?

The reason is that your MacBook is heating up. Is usually goes to 70 degrees before the fan kicks in at full speed.

You could avoid this by:-
(a) Doing less intensive apps (no games, no flash, no photoshop)
(b) Work in a cool air-con room.
(C) Get a notebook cooler (doesn't do magic either, at best lowers 3-4 degrees)
Do you reckon if I max the RAM it'll be better?
