i think his case something white and sticky was sprayed over the years in vapor form and collected

maybe it's from the nickel oxidizing, perhaps his room is quite humid

nice info. yeah they cut corners audio for most B560 and some lower Z590 i guess, when B460/B550 mostly already was ALC1200/ALC1220P, improvement from ALC897 on B450. the more costly B560 also does not make sense since price is quite close to cheapest decent Z590.

Z590/B560 list: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1_ZG...t#gid=262608602

i am still using old x-fi Titanium so unless it breaks then only forced to use onboard.

does the Z590 OC memory better than b560? i wonder what is the sweet spot kit for RKL, like 3600 CL16 is for RYzen.

I think the industry saw more users going external usb dac solution as well as usb gaming headsets. When it comes to onboard audio discussion, there are so much hatred towards them.

Id also wish to know how it perform on z490 as well haha. Altho my experience of OCing on intel is seem to be more tied to the limits of the ram itself. I can keep going on for the speed, even entering beyond 4200mhz but due to the weak trfc of my micron revB ram kit, it’s losing performance as I go faster. While kits like hynix and samsung have tighter trfc and their mileage is vastly different, like ctskl hitting 5066mhz... that’s why I’m planning to change my ram.

How do you guys refer to as ‘low-tier’ Z590 boards? Pricing or brand?

Actually considering a Z590I board myself for my new build with the Intel 11th gen chip.

Bad sound quality and isolation. I use an audiophile external USB DAC instead. And that was the reason why I sold my AMD because of AMD having usb issues with it.

To me, music playback quality is more important than performance laugh.gif

They have a form on their site for AM4 mounts, I presume one will come later for LGA1700.

They mailed me an AM4 kit for my NH-C14S but without tracking, 1.5 months later it never came. Asked them for another and that arrived pronto. Pos Malaysia somehow found the missing kit another month later, now I have two lol.

Looks like DJR, unless Klevv severely downgrades later batches of the Bolt XR like how ADATA downgraded the SX8200 Pro SSD.

Seems like 3733 Gear 1, unless you have a good RAM kit that can push past 4000 without loose timings, based on what I read.

VRM quality to handle 8-core high power draw
Board features (entry level can have as low as 5 rear USB ports, for instance)

Most external DACs have better sound processing than motherboard audio, etc.

Did some research and klevv is a subsidiary of hynix, just like crucial to micron, so it is almost confirmed that the dies will all be hynix. I guess it is safe to say, the dies will all be hynix DJRs as that is hynix's most budgeted offering.

Actually gear 1 or gear 2 performance impact is not big. It's not like AMD's infinity fabric, instead it's more like geardown mode. You can push way above 3700 even on gear 1, but at the expense of a very high IMC vsoc. That's why intel introduce the gear2 that halves the IMC freq... i guess it's more of a feature validation for the IMC to support those 5000-6000mhz ddr5 speeds later on alderlake.

djr. good. heatsink bad though
seek nrw

i think ppl have a misconception that gearing is invented by amd or intel

its part of jdec ddr4 spec way back in 2013.

the part that astonishes me how naive zen ppl are
amd implement-ion of gearing on 1/2 is fucked up.
ppl accepted it. intel now shows bandwidth remains and its actually higher because you can lower turnaround. cost is latency.

Thanks. I guess i will whack this ram kit after all i tend to tune my rams capped at 1.45v so the heatsink should be fine. (Cant be worse than my low profile vulkanZ anyways)

IKR... so many saying the gearing is like infinity fabric. Even those big names..... now i am starting to question their legitimacy as a "techguru"

Yeah ive seen that when trying to understand whether to enable or disable ryzen's geardown mode... which is actually this. Lolol. So many of these "techguru" never study for their exams... and all those nubs who go copy their answers got everything wrong.

Yup you should. Unfortunately the price went up but its still worth getting imho.
Buy two of these and replace the Klevv 'Heatspreaders' (if you wanna push) after you made sure they are working fine as I doubt warranty will be honored afterwards.

Yeah RM720 now. But well, I guess this will be a better investment than getting a 11700KF which will likely be cheaper later in the year haha.

Buy a Schiit Hel for an all in one external solution for all your audio needs (including mic input). Fairly cheap and can use for the next 20 years.
