I'm interested to see how much the new ASRock b760m steel legend / sonic reskin version will cost here as it's the only b760m Mobo that would fit my use if I upgrade my platform.

If cost is ur concern, can oso get B660 / 660M mobos and get the shop to flash in 13th gen compatible bios. |

Boy, the 13700k is a hot beast on air coolers. Stress test can go above 100'c and gaming to 80-90'c. Using ID cooling Se-225 XT air cooler.
I took the lazy way out by enabling undervolting in bios (asrock phantom gaming 4/d5) and in windows, set the asrock app to power saving and core voltage offset to -100mV. Power saving mode limits cpu ratio to 42x but in gaming, I don't see much difference as I guess most games are not CPU bound. Much better temperatures with the above lazy-man setting. I think cost of a new motherboard so far is not my concern. Our poor exchange rate + Ddr5 memory prices resulting in higher prices for the same tier of performance + overall general inflation for other PC parts would be the reason I delay upgrading. Full tower and high end fan is the way now. In full tower i modify and put extra 2 fans.I took the lazy way out by enabling undervolting in bios (asrock phantom gaming 4/d5) and in windows, set the asrock app to power saving and core voltage offset to -100mV. QUOTE(OlgaC4 @ Jan 6 2023, 09:17 AM) Yeah, case cooling is important but it doesn't help with the temperature spike. When I play assassin creed, the temp can spike to 80 and sometimes 90'c in an instance in the first one minute of gaming. |

QUOTE(kmarc @ Jan 6 2023, 09:58 AM) Again, from my reading and youtubing, if you know how 12th and 13th gen works, air coolers just don't cut it. Need good watercooling solutions which is something I don't want to venture into. I also will not venture into water-cooling for long run pc.This post has been edited by OlgaC4: Jan 6 2023, 10:11 AM |

QUOTE(kmarc @ Jan 6 2023, 10:18 AM) Yeah, AIO coolers are easier to setup nowadays but I still dislike them. Have you explored the contact frame? Not exactly the easiest thing to do, but seems worthwhile if you are having temperature issuesAnyway, if anybody has anymore lazy-man ways to bring down temp, do post it here. https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/therma...f-contact-frame |

QUOTE(kmarc @ Jan 6 2023, 10:18 AM) Yeah, AIO coolers are easier to setup nowadays but I still dislike them. You got a cooler pairing missmatch and you blame air cooler technology? OrzAnyway, if anybody has anymore lazy-man ways to bring down temp, do post it here. Have u ever checked that ur CPU can boost up to 253W? ![]() Did u know that ur SE225XT only can load up to 220W? ![]() For that max TDP, u should be looking at high end tower coolers which often can outperform 240AIO. Go for those rated for ur CPU TDP and above, such as this ![]() 225XT is a very capable cooler but it is a budget cooler anyhow. |

QUOTE(cnpats @ Jan 6 2023, 09:10 AM) I think cost of a new motherboard so far is not my concern. External factors we cant do much but if DDR5 prices are too high then get DDR4. There is little tangible difference for everyday use case unless its for productivity or competitive gaming. If you can hold out then hold out as tech always gets refreshed but if need to buy now and u concern on the pricing, there is nothing wrong with going for a 1 generation older platform which is still compatible with latest released CPUS.Our poor exchange rate + Ddr5 memory prices resulting in higher prices for the same tier of performance + overall general inflation for other PC parts would be the reason I delay upgrading. cnpats liked this post
