A lot of ppl (incl. reviewers) still do not understand how intel cpu behaves. If u let the Cpu consume max power in the bios, then of course the results will be skewed (meaning hot and hungry).

A good summary from Igor labs:

That's the problem. Now got efficiency core. It's about efficiency. Not ramp up to the max.

A lot Intel engineer don't know about CPU. We know more about Intel CPU than engineer in Intel. They involve in small part only.

The chip are pick not all are the same in the same process. Some goes to i3 some good one goes to i9. We want to go to i20 with OC.
Intel is all about stability not power crazy

Asus got brand tax for us.

I ended up with Asus Prime Z690M-Plus D4 (USD189.99) from USA because they didn't bring it here.. And look, they decided to bring Z790M-Plus D4 at RM1119. Cool, with Asus tax again.

189.99 United States Dollar equals 896.18 Malaysian Ringgit

Ddr5 is quite cheap. RM665. I think just direct go to ddr5 if buy now

Cheap DDR5. It will perform slower than DDR4-3600 CL16. Latency is high for cheap DDR5.

What are your memory sticks temp while gaming on a heavy CPU title (Cyberpunk/God of War)? Got that exact same stick, tuned manually as 6400 doesn't run stable despite being on mobo QVL, no silicon luck here.
Mine can touch up to 55 with just heat spreader. So far no stability issues, but community experience on this is lacking unlike Samsung B-die.

Edit: To general, does Z790 come with the same locking mechanism? Bendgate issue with previous gen.

Asus Z690 Prime-A. Didn't have much choice, very very early adopter before choices trickled in.

I don't think it's the mobo, but rather the CPU (12700KF) itself. So I tuned it for stuff like 6200 CL30-38-38 instead on 1.4V.
Could also be a bios version, as extensive googling showed that some had problems after a particular version (which we can't rollback after 2xxx version).
6400 MT/s seems to be the barrier for non-experienced OCers like myself on 12th gen.

Nonetheless, I don't dwell too much on it. Don't think I'll be updating to Raptor Lake, but good to see how far the 2nd Gen DDR5 controllers goes.

Will the asrock z790 taichi launch in malaysia? Can't see it in lazada/shopee yet. We got the z690 taichi last year so I guess it should get here at some point?

The 8 SATA, dual LAN and 3+ M.2 is what's making me consider for it. And also the fact that my x399 taichi has been great since day 1.

13900k price is just too good to bother with the 7950x. Just gotta limit the cpu power so it doesn't guzzle up the wattage.... No matter what the IPC will obliterate my 1920x anyway lol.
