I get very stressed out dealing with the productions! Don’t you? Do you go to war? I have never gone to war. Lol. I always choose the easiest NPC as well.
The statistic screen - SOOOOO importantThe green bar is shorter than the blue bar? Build more production! It's that simple.
Don't care about the beauty and efficiency for a start, the main goal is to fix the production vs demand.
Key importance - DON'T KEEP LOW TIER PROBLEM UNSOLVED. Making sure supply & production of each item is STABLE, before move on to the next one.
I always go to war with those grumpy looking NPC.
Well they started it, not me. 2 stars and 3 stars NPC have very high tendency of starting war.
Really don't need all the islands to succeed (especially with Docklands), leave them alone if they didn't come mess with you in the first place.
It is fine to produce a bit more but don't over produce it unless there's a reason to.
For example if sharing the produce with other islands/regions, or for Docklans export.
Example -> island-B need 7 canned food per minute, the cargo ship take about 5 minutes round trip + loading/unloading
Total of canned food to send? 35. Send a bit extra in case traffic jam at trading post / pier.
Gotta make sure to overproduce canned food at least by 5 tons per minute to keep up with that sharing demand.
The maths are very simple, it just that there a lot of them to keep track of.
And there is no in-game timer to check how long a trade route takes to complete, so you gotta do some checking manually.
Once all the math checks out well, you can really just leave the game running and go to sleep and everything will be fine... theoretically. Except not cuz the factory always KABOOOOOOOOMMMMM explode.
