Im not too worried about my indoor cat though I was thinking to get for my indoor/outdoor cat that i can nvr make fully indoor. Hes been an indoor outdoor cat for 3 yrs now, the 1st yr or so was very difficult, he got sick very frequently and had to visit the vet almost every month and one visit I had to pay at least rm90. But now he's older he rarely gets sick, i guess his immune system is much stronger but I do worry if he gets an accident or injure himself while he's outside  unsure.gif

Good day guys, my cat seems have a 'coughing' issue lately and it happen more and more frequent... around 3-4 times per day.
It usually happen during her resting period.

Just went to vet and show this video to the docs and they said need to bring the cat for heart scan, since this age is around 9 years old, female.
3 weeks ago did bring this cat to do X-Ray scan & blood test. Both test result show the lung is normal and blood results also normal.

Would like to ask opinion here if anyone cat experience something similar ...

*
Maybe bring to another vet ask? I saw such coughing cat on one of my stray cat i feed on porch. Also old cat. Then getting thiner and thinner as time goes buy. When I thought bring him to vet, but I also dily daly, he went to hangout at another house in neighbourhood.

Then after a while missing liao. Dunno die or neighbour bring inside.

I thought the stray has virus? Cause the vaccine we normally give prevent parvo and flu/cough. Since he is stray, not vaccinated. Not sure about yours though. The coughing kinda similar.

Thanks for the feedback.
Yup it is a stray cat that we keep since she still a 1/2 weeks kitten.
As far as I am aware, we did not administrated any vaccine to her since small.

Gotta bring her to see another vet for 2nd opinion this coming Saturday smile.gif

Hi guys.. need some advice here.
At my working place got stray cat and her kitten. Two days ago the kitten front paw hancur kena langgar by car. I catch that kitten and bring it to animal medical centre where the doc clean the wound and bandage it. I leave the kitten warded there for one day observation.
This evening i bring the kitten back to my work place. The front paw still bandaged. I wish to release back the kitten to her mother. The question now is... should i open up the bandage or just leave it still.? As a stray kitten/cats i know the bandage will be soiled quickly. My intention is to open the bandage and let the kitten and her mother tended the wound naturally.

depends on the extend of the injury,

when u say 'hancur' it sounds very serious,

any wound thts not fully healed , will risk infection.

Dear Cat Dads & Moms,

I have something to share and i hope someone would be able to explain this. I am an experienced cat owners, but this issue never happened to me before, which makes me sad, angry & curious.

I have a cat, named Salem. He was 3 years old. I have him since he was born (i rescued a pregnant cat). He have 4 other siblings and all of them are vaccinated, spayed/neutered, eats super premium food & stays indoor all the time. Salem (including the mother and all of his siblings) were very active, very healthy & well-fed. Even when any of them shows any sign of illness like Flu, scratch wound etc i would directly brought them to Vet. Everything went good so far.

Until last week, i've noticed Salem starts limping on his right arm, thinking of that would be a minor injury, i observed for another 1 day. Day-2, the limping area starts swelling, also he starts losing fat/muscle mass around his cheek & chest, and his body was hot, then i brought him to Vet. I've explained everything to the doctor on how serious i think the condition of Salem, and the doctor be like "no need worry lah nothing serious, no wounds no fractures, maybe he just jump & landed wrongly", the doctor even said i should stop worrying & overreacting over a small issue. And the doctor only gave Anti-Inflammatory meds. JUST THAT, and the doctor not even allow me to buy the supplement/booster or applied anything on the limping areas, they just want me to trust them as they were the Doctors.

Fine with that, i gave Salem the med, of course.. no improvements. Salem starts getting worse, he starts avoiding everyone, and lying head down most of the time. Even when i carry him, or put him on the table, he will put his head down, and he lose appetite too (i have to manually feed him). Remember, this is just 3rd day of him being sick.

Day-4, i go to the Vet again and angrily explained of what have happened, they all were shocked & scared seeing the condition of my cat since it were just yesterday i came to the clinic, and the condition was rapidly worsen. Then they shaved Salem's limping arm, they seemingly found out something, starts discussing with each other with very worrying face. And they never really told me what happened, they just "we think this might be a bacterial infection, but we're not so sure since we cannot spotted any wound". They gave me Antibiotics (FINALLY eventho its too late), and they gave me a referral letter to Specialist Hospital saying that in-case of emergency (its like they know something but they never really told me, maybe they scared of me blaming them for not doing it right the first time). And they said its a really really rare case of a cat went from very healthy to seriously ill for just 3 days.

After went back from clinic, gave the meds, nothing good. And this time he walk around everywhere pointlessly. Several hours later, he went to kitty heaven. bye.gif All that happens so fast, from very healthy to getting sick for just 3 days & died the next day. And he is just 3 years old. sad.gif Yes i am angry with the doctors as they were not taking my point seriously, if they do, that would have saved Salem's life. But i am more of wanting to know what actually happened, what disease that can killed a healthy house cat in just 3 days.. If its a bacterial infections, how or where do he get such bacteria? Or he might allergic to something (since i changed the food recently)? Or any fatal insect bites that does not leave any wound (i live in a level 4 apartment btw)? Or any possible natural diseases like diabetes, nerves disorder or anything?

I need to know as i have to protect my other cats at all cost. sad.gif I hope anyone here can explain or share their experiences too. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing your story.
This is a lesson for all to learn.

Always get a satisfactory answer from your vet.
Insist it.

If they can't answer you, means, they are not sure.
Immediately seek second opinion until you are satisfied.

No time? Don't wana spend too much $$$?
Then this is the risk pet owner have to accept.

.......

For humans or for pet animals, always note all the symtoms that you can observe.

For your case, it can me many things.

It also could be FIP.
For fip, the cat can die very fast.
No appetite, lost weight, problem with movement, swelling,
multi cat house hold..

Learning by reading from RELIABLE sources is very important.

Omg. 3 years old and suddenly gone. So scary. Sigh. The symptoms looks like fip. Lost of movement no eat and die very fast. When cats no eat, we as cat parent really worried sick. Usually it represent huge sickness. I had a parvo kitten die within 3 days too. And symptom start when no eat zzzz.

You can go test the remaining 2 cats for fcov antigen test. Fcov will mutate to fip but according to Internet stats, the mutation is low %. And fcov is easily infected if same household cats. If your 2 remaining cats no fcov, means Salem low chance die from fip. If they have fcov, means high chance fip?

I am surprised the vet no ask for virus test though.

Coincidentally basilisk post fip cure. Btw is this cure for real? Heard it's black market cure. Fb groups always see ppl asking donation. Dunno scam or real.

Everything (almost) is explained in the article above.
All is real.

Chinese company claim to copied GS441524 formula.

And there are people here that promote it.
All drugs need gov approval, so it is illegal for sure.

It is expensive.
So they do crowdfunding.

Somehow months ago I also read a lot of this cure. Seems the cure is real. Problem is where to get it.

Fb group says https://www.basmifip.com/
Looks shady though the site. And tons of ppl doing crowd funding on basmifip until I can't differentiate it's real crowd funding or scam syndicate.

Anyone with similar experience can give some advise?

I have 2 indoor cats in a condo and we will be moving to a landed property soon.

Can i have advise on:
a) the best method to help them get used to the new environment and settle in
b) if there's anyway to track them if they run out (or maybe train them to come back?)

I really dont want my cats to go missing :/

i've been there early of this year. From Apt to Landed.

surprisingly all of my cats (3) settled quite fast probably just 2 or 3 days. I moved all the things they have been using on the same day as well.

if your cats never a stray then dont let your cats out from home. Once missing probably cannot find back. Close all your windows/doors or you may install fence/nets.

I think it's cultural. Malaysian tend to ask cheaper option or like "boleh kurang lagi x boss?". So it's become of habit for the seller not to promote or ask you to spend more money. Vet service is expensive though. So I think they tend to avoid asking the customer to spend more money for tests without having strong reason. Just doing physical check, they won't know the severity of the illness. The swelling could be nothing, so they thought. I don't know if they have enough equipment to test the fluid in the swelling if they want to.

I'm so sorry for your loss! I have loss cats before just under 24-48 hours, just like that without knowing what is the cause of their death.
