Orico seems have their own nvme ssd line up. Probably get crucial x10 for peace of mind. Orico high speed also not cheap lol.
Orico does sell their branded SSD but Im doubtful their the OEM maker of it.The SSD Thread V7, SLC, MLC, TLC, QLC, PLC, and 3D XPoint

https://www.techpowerup.com/340170/silicon-...-windows-11-bug Their SM2508 controller based SSDs have proven to be popular for Gen5 buyers and with this bug not hitting them, all versions of SSDs with SM brain will fly off the shelves. Reviewers like Jayz usually get their stuff near retail ready so doubtful his problem is due to preproduction firmware as he also mentioned he updates his stuff. There are prolly more issues than just one.need to check lowyat news sleyer liked this post

Jayz came out to call BS on the 'solution' of the SSD dying and again he stressed that he will only use retail (or near retail ready) stuff for review so that excuse of pre release firmware wouldnt have hit him but he still had SSD failures. jwgs0010 liked this post

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Sep 11 2025, 11:22 PM) Jayz came out to call BS on the 'solution' of the SSD dying and again he stressed that he will only use retail (or near retail ready) stuff for review so that excuse of pre release firmware wouldnt have hit him but he still had SSD failures. basically phison claimed that the issue was for their ssds that were using NON retail firmware. So their solution was, update the firmware. For people who had bought retail ssd, then there shouldn't be an issue for this? or if people had diligently checked for firmware updates (which not everyone does for ssds unfortunately).that jay is click bait. He made such a big deal about his issue, but in the end the reason why his particular case had crash was due to a motherboard bios firmware issue. So for him, he downgraded to an older bios and that fixed his issue. So it wasn't even related to the ssd phison issue to begin with. My point is, someone like jay just hypes the situation just to click bait and profiteer from. So should we be paying too much attention to someone like that? credits at least for figuring it out, but he was quick to jump on the blame windows ssd wagon for clicks. this serves non of our interests by fear mongering without proof anyway for the latest news, windows says it's not their fault, and phison says for them, just update the firmware. if it really was sample ssds, then only a small number of people affected most likely reviewers (particularly those who never updated the ssd firmware) This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Sep 14 2025, 09:55 AM |

Yes and no, it depends if they come preinstalled and have warranty void sticker on the heatsink cover joint, or specifically mention on the info sticker. I wouldnt open these as it could ruin the thermal pad.And then there are those that come separate for buyers choice to self install like Adata These are the best as i can use the mobo heatshield and keep the included heatsink for another drive next time. jwgs0010 liked this post
