I do agree, tho just as with Gen3 SSD continues to be made & sold today, top tier Gen3 drives are priced nearly similar to top Gen4 ones so it really has less reasons to go for the older tech.

I see the transition from Gen4 to Gen5 will be similar and of course for the majority PC users it shouldnt matter as either will suit most use case, but if it cost me nearly the same I would want to max out performance for the dollar.

Gen5 runs hot AF so that is probably a big turn off, until someone comea out with a better controller with a better and cooler controller haha.

Main reason is bcoz 1st gen Gen5 SSD controllers are using older silicon tech, 14/12nm. I believe once they transition to 7/5/4nm chips, it will eventually run about the same temps as top Gen4 drives today around 40+C idle.

Grab it while you still can. But beware such good deals is 50:50 scam. Dont be surprised if its not genuine (fake branded SSD) or else the seller later just cancels your order with stupid reasons like "no stock". The latter happened to me when Shopee seller typo the price with huge discount.

If you do get it and its genuine, then its your lucky day.

That is a good price (with vouchers) at current market.

All IT is ok. Shipping out is a bit slow but all good. I bought stuffs from them before.

just briefly after we almost accepted the 'fact' that new pci-e 5.0 ssds must use large heat sinks, sabrent gives us hope, https://www.tweaktown.com/news/95714/sabren...sink/index.html

brief information on intel 15th gen cpus was found in the wild now (well, assuming that the contents of the leak are true):
- supports 1x pci-e 5.0 x16, 1x pci-e 5.0 x4, 1x pci-e 4.0 x4;
- supports native thunderbolt 4 (maybe available for high-end mobos only);
- supports dp 2.0;
- uses lga-1851 socket;
- etc.

.. the total number of native pci-e lanes (cpu + chipset) are still the same.

https://www.guru3d.com/story/intel-arrow-la...ve-thunderbolt/
https://www.tweaktown.com/news/95710/intel-...-tdp/index.html

edit:

basically the combination that fits my planned build do not exist yet. it's what i had in mind in terms of population of ssds vs. pci-e versions. now i should check out more on ram (minimum ddr5-6400), so that i can reuse them when i upgrade. my cpu water block and socket bracket can still be reused.

Owh sorry to hear that. Exactly what happen to me but a different seller. I didnt think a company as reputable as ALLIT will also do that too. And yeah its more likely they want to sell at a higher price. Track it for a month or so it will suddenly come back at the "adjusted" pricing.

Mind you global SSD prices only just started to rise and expected to go up to 50% more so you might see that 2TB SSD prolly near RM900 would not be a surprise.
