HT625 - Most of these device owners report screen alignment issues. Newer devices with green stickers on the box seem to have fixed the alignment issues.

HT635 - Some people have screen alignment issues - TyTN. Slight minor changes to the phone (keyboard feels easier to slide out/battery cover is more solid), but so far no problems with keyboard buttons.

HT636 - Keyboard feels easier to slide out/battery cover is more solid, body has no squeking, much snappier than my old Trion, but so far no problems with screen alignment (3weeks)but my "M" is little bit nonresponsive. MDA Vario II has no problems so far (couple of days) No unresponsive keys! Solid casing. Stylus is a little stiff to pull out

HT637 - a few known SA problems, slide out keyboard is somewhat stiff, need to give stylus a good pull/push to take out/put in.

HT639 - No SA problem so far (1week), slide out keyboard is somewhat loose, need to give stylus a good pull/push to take out/put in. Beware of unresponsive key(s)

HT640 - Stylus got hard to push in and out of housing, but after about 10 days it was 'back to normal' with no evidence of any of the friction pads falling out. No screen problems after 30 days (30-Nov-06)but at just under 60 days (27 Dec 2006) the red/green phone keys on the bottom of the phone + the soft keys next to them have stopped working so the phone is being exchanged

HT642 - Stylus gets hard to push in / out of housing. No screen problems after 7 days from (31-Oct-06) The battery has been changed, it is now got a white plastic sheath and is only rated at 1300mAh (Model No. HERM160, made by Sanyo)

HT644 Stylus is hard to push in. No screen problems. Battery is 1350mAh (Model manf. DynaPack CO. LTD) (25/11/06)

HT645 Stylus is hard to push in. No screen problems. Battery is 1300mAh (06/12/06)

Heard from a friend's friend who's working at SiS service centre..
He told me that once you flash the ROM, no more warranty, cos they will look at the bootloader...
and out of 10 units of phones sent for repair, 7 units is 838pro...
seems like the mainboard of the 838pro is problematic and without warranty, it will cost USD300+ to replace it...

so now I hope my set has no problems and if it does, i can flash to ori wm6 ROM then send for repairs...

btw, if i flash back to ori WM6 ROM, would the bootloader change as well?

small bugs encountered with .ryan. v3.57.2:
1. when turning it on from standby, the screen colour was inverted. All white become black and vice versa...
2. When playing games and a call comes in, the buttons are non-responsive for at least 5 seconds, kinda lagging.. and when the call ended and I go back into the game, it lags as though its 0.5 FPS

other than that, it never hanged my unit, only lagged...

Just uninstall this .cab from your remove programs called WM6 Sounds.

Julchin, could you take off the 3.57.2 Roms from the first page and put up the other ROM which is based on the official. I think it was located in the last few pages of the v2 thread. Its the 3.54.707.3r ROM. Thats the one based on the dopod WM6 release.

Anybody know how to set the phone when receiving file via bluetooth will directly store into SD card?

Go into bluetooth settings and select the folder you wish to receive all incoming files to.

after dry trying to power up, but nothing show on screen.

seems like a trend to drop the 838pro into water (touchwood)

I'd advise you to really dry it up, keep it in a container with lots of silica gel, and when you're absolutely sure its dry, then send to service centre and hope they are unable to find out...

I have heard a lot of people dropping their phone into the toilet boil, because of putting their phone in their pockets

I don't think u can do that "naturally" as by default, all files received via infra-red or bluetooth will be sent to My Device -> My Documents.

However, by modifying the following registries, u can reset the "My Documents" folder to the one in ur SD Card (create one b4 attempting this) and hence saving all ur files directly into ur memory card:

> Modify/Create the following
> String Bane: FileSyncPath Value: \SD Card\My Documents
> SImply create a root folderon storage card named "My Documents"

I can't used my 838pro as a bluetooth modem since i upgraded to WM6. Had no problems previously with WM5. Don't like that internet sharing thingy. Can anyone help me out??

I can surf using maxis 3g on the phone. With bluetooth can get a connection with pc but the webpage just won't load. Is it something to do with the proxy settings??

And to bernardryan ....thx for the hermes kitchen, but the manual doesn't teach how to add/ remove stuff from the ROMs. How to do it??

You can check out the old thread for information on the different available cases. Just click the link on post no.#3 of this thread to go to the old link. You have various cases and sleeves to choose from. They should be readily available at Low Yatt plaza now except for the Piel Frama or VAJA which you'll have to order online from SPAIN and ARGENTINA respectively. Those 2 are high end cases......

help, i get this message, unable to start camera, unable to initialize camera. damn dunno whether it is due to dropping the phone. dropped few time from around chair height but usually no problems. warranty already over.
I soft reset it but won't work, hard reset worked once but after a few hours got the same msg. Hard reset again failed.

Any ideas. If send to service center what would be the charges. I'm using olipro--any problems with the service center??

Steps that i had done.

--> Open folder
--> Copy the " U got message" into Mobile interface

But it does not work for sms ringtone. For Mp3 it can be recognized in this way.. any solutions guys?

Use PIMBackup 2.5. It backs up all your PIM... do a google search for PIMBackup 2.5

i think i encounter a problem with the sms tones...

i did all the steps as from the previous discussion
i will list out again what i did last night.

Fist - Copy the " U got message" tone to Device Intererface (Not working)
Seocnd - Copy the " U got message" tone to Device/ Windows ( Not Wokring)
Third Copy the " U got message" tone to Device/ Windows/Ring ( Not Working)

nvm..then i double comfirmed i had enable the sound & notification.
So i re-tick the Sound & Notification -->Event: New SMS Incoming
And choose the " U got Message" tone.
After that i send a sms to myself..but no incoming sms tones...so i check back my Sound & Notification at Event: New SMS incoming but the check box is " un-tick" ???

I did the procedure for few times already..after sending sms the check box is alwiz untick? is that a bug there?

Haha... .so the 838Pro still reliable eh? Good to know you're still keeping it. Im still using a SPB POcket PLus and Wisbar Advance combo. No problems at the moment using Window Vista Theme.....

I did a testing on assign a sms tone to my bro and he send a sms to me and guess what it works..

then i remove his sms tones from Photocontactpro.......no notification at all.....did u use photocontactpro for your device? mine is the stable version V502 Full version.

Hi guys, been wanting a PDA since they launch the 1st ATOM but it is too pricey. But hey, my boss at work is selling his 838 Pro. Its a lil over a year with a new battery. According to him, the unit just came back from serving/fixing from the service centre.

Hi wants to sell it at RM500. Do you think its a good buy? How long does these things last anyway? Sorry if my question is out of topic

i wanted to flash with ryan's latest rom but somehow the installation stops at 68% and repoted that the connection lost.... i tried second time and the issue still same... i exited the flash utility and wanted to flash with ryan's previous version... but than the uitlity complains that the connection cannot be made... any other method i can recover my PPC?? please help meeee....

do i need to continuously press those 3 buttons until the hard reset option appear?? or just press once and wait??

for those with lose slide and inbalance slide, i can modify your slide to make it more sturdy and solid for the price of 60 bucks.

I'm currently in Shanhai and i'm shock to see the SoftBank version is retailing at RMB around 3400 which is equavalet to rm 1.6k....

anyhow, i bought a compatible 1400mAh battery for RMB 100 (RM 47) and desktop charges for RMB 50 (RM 23.5)... i think its very good deal.

btw, they have the extended battery 2400mAh which is much thicker, come with the backplate protruding out. it looks awkful. price RMB 150

recently just upgrade to wm6, everything run smoother and quite happy with it, especially can use mp3 for ringtone.

but when sync with pc, it took longer time to complete sync. WM5 usually done within 30sec... now wm6 over 1minute20sec !
u guys face this probs...or it's only me?
when running sync, my pda will become very laggy .. is it normal?

Hey in KL are all the dopod's changed to HTC already? I wanna buy new dopod 838 pro but i dont want the older one with Dopod. I wan the new 1 with HTC

try to answer some of ur questions..
1) latest seial number? no idea on this.
2) latest price check was RM2670 with 2G micro sd card + some freebies (varies from different shops) U can try any of the PDA shop at lowyat entrance floor, their pricing are roughly the same, just depends on whether are u taking any installment plan or not since diff shop provide installment plan from different banks.. Just becareful with some of them providing 2 years warranty, the 2nd year is provided by them, not by SiS Distribution.
3) I don't think there's AP for Dopod in Malaysia, correct me if i'm wrong. Warranty can be done at SiS/Dopod/HTC service centre in lowyat. Its at the entrance floor. There's another one in Shah Alam Glenmarie.. maybe u can try checking out the official HTC website first..
4) Which has better services? It depends on individual... for my case Dopod's warranty is good enough.. o2 had some complains on slow response, but again, it depends on who is serving u. And u need to get urself clear on HTC and Dopod. There are the same now.. HTC = Dopod Don't get urself confuse there... so.. HTC service centre refers to Dopod service centre, they are under SiS Distribution.
5) All the OS thingy u can ask the shop to do for u. If not, u can always go to the service centre and ask them to do it for u. Provided you are under warranty. Ur life will be easier if u read up some forums on PDA or stuff... Since there's a lot of Cooked Roms available which might be better. But i won't be goin further for this.
6) Serial number would be ur IMEI number i suppose. Its the same for all the phones, check inside ur phone (battery there) or u can go to 'device information' in the PDA as well..

8) Good advice? Take ur time playin with the phone before buying (Took me 2 hours before buyin it).. check the keyboard whther its responsive or not.. any dead pixels on the screen or not... is the stylus fitting well.. is the slider sliding in and out properly... Check whther is the phone a Demo unit or not ( scratches, marks) CHeck for the latest Rom... check under Device Information,

HTC has officially announced the release of HTC TyTN II communicator, known also under the codename HTC Kaiser. The device is aimed at business users, first of all. It has a side sliding QWERTY-keyboard and a display, which can be fixed at an angle to the keyboard. The TyTN II is powered by Windows Mobile 6 Professional.
