guys i'm planning to buy the HP tablet laptop.but the series is TX1214.if i'm not mistaken.the price is RM3499.the spec that really bothers me is the processors,coz its using athlon x2 (i forgot the speed though).
i'll be using the laptop for design.i'll be using mainly adobe's software and some 3D software like 3dmax or maya.but the 3D soft i won't be doing heavy work with it.
so what do you guys think abt it?do you recommend this laptop or not?thanks for the advice guys.

PS:ow ya i'll be posting also in the main thread coz i want to ask people's opinion on comparison this HP with the DV2000 or Sony Vaio NR120E.

can't upgrade tx1316au to 4 gb...

just support 3 gb....

This is workstation laptop it not for gaming so the graphic card won't be that good it not using 8 series on it

to:yies_ict because it using Vista 32bit OS so it only support until 3G ..if u using 64bit OS then it will show 4G

if your game is graphic intensive then TX is a no go. I tried Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter and its not playable. I am playing Risk II and Starcraft without any problem. Gotta say, these 2 game is not exactly the in-thing now or should i say, i am ancient.

hey guys, i'm using media classic player with real alternative codec to play rmvb files or rm files... and everytime i open a file, the vista system will change to vista basic because of the colour scheme thingy.. and it's kinda annoying to me. can i cahnge any setting in my player so that it wont change when i watch those files?

anyone of u having problem when resume from hibernation, the wifi couldn't detect any wifi spot anymore............
or wifi suddendly DC during usage?

please look for hp tx series drivers website and for CTO model.
FYI if you upgrade to vista SP1 it won't support Acer Chicony drivers.

for mine i did have dc prob but not when i resume from hibenate mode. mine is when u dl sumthing running at highspeed(mine 1mb tmnut) 80-150kbps it will dc after 10-15mins. sumtimes still can find the router but coudlnt connect. sumtimes cant even find the wifirouter. any of these happane i just put in sleep mode n resume back n it works fine. note: only when dl-ing stuffs it will dc. if i use it for surf net no prob. update driver, update hp assistant wifi n disable the asistant all to no avail. hp person told be to keep update those driver. they said could be the internal antenna malfucntion. i dont understand y its faulty it could be the swivel screen design not so good? it seems like a common prob for tx series.

this lappie just great.. i can still manage to run my codes, do my graphics well... not playing game, but FEAR still can play.heheh..so many visitors aa now, this thread..

Before you start scrutinizing the internal specs I suggest suggest that you check the build quality. It is extremely important for a tablet pc since you'll be touching it much more than a normal laptop.

1. Make sure the screen hinge is super steady and super durable. You will be twisting it very often.

2. Make sure all compartments are solid even my pressure is applied on it. You WILL find youself resting your hand and arms on your lappy and even your screen.

3. Make sure the screen is MATTE. Glossy finishes is a no no. And the viewing angle must be very side. Mine goes up 1 about 160+ horizontal(up to 150 is super clear) and 170 vertical(up to 160 is super clear). Rarely you will find yourself looking straight on the screen.

4. Make sure the screen is hard. Yep tablet screens are meant to be hard cause you will be writing on it. There should be some friction when you use the pen to draw on the screen. Ideally the friction should be similar to that of a 2B pencil on plain printing paper. But you won't want screeching sounds either.

5. Test the accuracy and precision of the tablet stylus. Hold the stylus as you would hold any normal pen and try selecting text, double clicking, selecting small icons such as minimize and system tray icons. Lauch paint and draw a line a moderate speed. There should be almost no pointer lag. IF there is then the tablet is bad.

6. You'd be more than happy having a 12" tablet in your arms and on your lap than on a table. So make sure the ventilation system is good. Ideally the vent is suck in from side and blow out from side. If it has vents at the bottom, make sure there are a few and well spaced and you will be blocking some when you place it on your lap or bed.

7. Good In built speakers and array mics is a big plus. You do not want your super portable no mouse lappy to turn into a desktop because you need to attach mics and speakers.

7. Then start checking out the internal specs. Due to more drivers needed and the nature of the programs you'd be having fun with, I recommend at least 2GB of RAM and proc 1.6 i sufficient.
