esim doubts...

when you wipe/reset iPhone, it will ask you whether want to remove esim profile
i tried remove esim profile when reset, after that I use back the same qr code is okay, but what I did not test is when changing phone

been using Xs with maxis esim and til 11 pro, Maxis told me cannot reuse when I got my 11 pro at maxis center, so i use the new qr code maxis provided for new 11 pro last year

I do believe qr code can reuse, but i unsure whether is carrier lock it or not
I have few travel esim profile which i attached to my iPhone Xs, when I got my 11 pro, only maxis esim I scan the new one, the other two travel esim profile I use my 11 pro rescan no issue, and can be use oversea last year.

So, esim still have some doubts like, when phone spoilt, send for warranty etc.... how to use it on spare phone, in the case even your spare phone have to support esim sweat.gif
best is local sim card using physical sim... smile.gif unless you have secondary line, secondary line go for esim
*
The telco always told me dun wipe /factory reset the phone if use eSIM.

If yes, then need to request and charge RM10 for QR code to install the profile?

Yes, point taken, bro. The original charging brick and earphones from Apple cost RM99 each (RRP) so it's about another RM200, which still makes the quantum of price increase for the iPhone the lowest this year.

Oh, and there are no jerks here, bro. All free to have an opinion, hahaha smile.gif

I beg to differ, bro. on your last point. Cheers.

No real incentive to upgrade for existing owners of XS/XR and above. The choice to retain Lightning and give a USB-C cable is a dick move though. Most existing users won't have a USB-C power brick unless they have a later-gen MacBook or iPad Pro. Would've been much better if they went full USB-C.

but yeah i don't mind removing the earpods... but it was painful to lose the power adapter...
thus the price drop is no price drop if we add back the RM99 power adapter there...

still i can't wait rclxm9.gif
counting down the days to get my hands on the phone...

saw some sharing on Facebook : https://www.facebook.com/lordarttech/posts/3566236300063289

people complaining on Apple’s decision to not include the charger & earphone, are missing the details.

The new 12 Pro is Rm200 cheaper than the 11 Pro.

20w Charger is Rm99

Earphone is Rm99

So what we have here is actually Apple giving the option to buyer. If you already have a charger & earphone, you dont need to get a new one. It will help to save the precious raw material and carbon footprint. Reduce, Reuse.
But if you don’t have a charger & earphone, then you can get them with the Rm200 saved. Charger too expensive for you? or you dont like the quality of the earphone? No problem, because now Apple is giving you the option to get a third party one! There are hundreds of third party options now.

Remember they sell millions of phones around the world, which mean millions of charger & earphone in the box too. Most of the buyer is already an iphone user, or a smartphone user, or at least will have some sort of usb charger & their favourite pair of earphone. Apple is giving you an option to help save the environment. Not sure why you’re against that. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Edit : highlighting my comments that might answer some of the confusion.

pre-order, is self collection from apple store nearby or delivery?

sorry, never pre-order before.

do you think that 128gb 12 pro max pacific blue will be out of stock after few hours?
*
No Apple Store in Malaysia yet. With Pre-Order with Apple Store MY online, you would get your phone through courier, straight from the oven from Guangzhou. Fresh and hot. biggrin.gif

Bro... too bad its still lockdown for MY and SG. It would be really memorable to pickup your Iphone 12 Pro Max from this store the first ever floating Apple store in the world, especially during Christmas. Maybe we can arrange a TT here with the rest of the guys next year. laugh.gif

What about if you lost your phone, or the phone is being repaired. Are you able to quickly provision a physical SIM quickly at the kiosk?

If the phone is wiped or reset, do I need to go to the carrier and provision an eSIM again?

Appreciate your clarification.

Please ask Maxis that, knock on wood, I never faced that issue before but glad that you brought it up. Now I am curious about that when I move to the new iPhone 12, how would the transfer process be. But based on the speed in which I moved to e-Sim, I would think the reverse would be equally fast.

So, it's possible to purchase the eSIM and just use it once landed? Definitely a huge plus to eSIM for the convenience.

I am still doing the old school way by going to the airport kiosk upon landing.

Are you able to have dual eSIM standby on your current iPhone?
*
Everyone of us is still using the old school way of buying a physical sim at the airport upon landing. That is why I'm on the physical dual sim Iphone from HK. On whether you would be able to purchase an ESim and use it once landed will depend on that particular telco. You would still need to be connected to the internet first upon landing before you receive your E-Sim. So I still think physical sim would still be the easier and faster method.

Dual ESim standby is possible on the current iphones. IINM you can have up to 7 different Esims stored on your phone at any time.

Where do you get the HK model in Malaysia?

Couldn't travel now due to COVID and based on my experience, the first batch is always hard to get in HK due to scalpers from PRC.

You can even purchase the esim for your destination country before you even landed. Esim is a boon to travellers really.

I usually buy my imported sets from T&L. Must make sure they specify its a dual physical sim from HK. Anyway, scalpers from China wont be interested on the HK sets because China sets are dual physical sim as well.
