In actual fact the price of the base Pro has been reduced since the storage is now 128GB. Also the 12 Pro Max 256GB is now 5799 Vs the 11 Pro Max at 5999 last year if not mistaken.
I think it's fair for the Pro line this round.
The 12 and 12 Mini price is a bit disappointing though coz I expected the 12 to match the 11 and the price of the Mini to be lower.
Not really, bro. If you take into account the costs of the two missing items from this year’s package, at best, it’s of similar value. But that’s left to be seen since we do not have the actual prices yet of the accessories.
Public Service Announcement Guys, if you get pushback from your Android friends (like I do, hahaha) about the missing charger and earphones for the iPhone 12, please feel free to quote me
For perspective: -
S10+ 128GB @ RM3699, S20 Ultra 5G 128GB @ RM4999. Increase % = 35.1% Note 10+ 256GB @ RM4199, Note 20 Ultra 5G 256GB @ RM5199. Increase % = 23.8% OnePlus 7 Pro 128GB @ RM2999, OnePlus 8 Pro 5G 128GB @ RM3699. Increase % = 23.3% iPhone 11 Pro Max 64GB @ RM5299, iPhone 12 Pro Max 128GB 5G @ RM5299. Increase % = 0. iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB @ RM5999, iPhone 12 Pro Max 256GB 5G @ RM5799. Increase % = -3.3%
Not being a jerk here. But you must also cost in the standard boxed-in accessories like the charging brick and earphones. With that said, there would be increases in prices albeit not huge relatively.
Yes, point taken, bro. The original charging brick and earphones from Apple cost RM99 each (RRP) so it's about another RM200, which still makes the quantum of price increase for the iPhone the lowest this year.
Good video to summary what mistakes one should not make for iphone 12 purchase.
By and large, a very enlightening video but at the same time, can throw a monkey wrench in the woodworks for many. At the end of the day, I suppose each and every one of us, even after digesting all these information, will somehow decide based on our own rationalisation.
So, yeah, go out and buy what you like and don’t be too easily swayed by others. After all, it’s your money. Cheers.
one can always still make own decision for their preferred choice. nothing wrong to watch similar videos to help in decision. one may miss out on details and end up with wrong choice too.
Don’t get me wrong. Decisions are based on knowledge gathered. That’s why I said from the outset, the video is informative. Was just saying that, as an example myself, before watching the said video I sort of made up my mind as to which model to grab but after, I have to compute more inside me as a lot provided therein makes sense.
this year pro max 256GB and 512GB model RM200 cheaper, same with pro
this is what i observed for my phone price over the years iPhone X RM5899 iPhone Xs RM5699 iPhone 11pro RM5599 all 256GB
From your input iPhone 12Pro is RM200 more over 11Pro but if you cost in the charging brick and earphones, total value of these 2 is about RM200, it means this year, for the Pro variant, it is about RM400 more expensive, comparing apple to apple(excuse the pun). Correct me if I am wrong.
this is totally not true. u never consider in the 12 pro extra stuff. 5G support is already a component that will cost quite a bit and it will make ur iphone 12 pro a lot more future proof. i think apple is doing a far move which it make the entire series of iphone 12 to be 5G supported instead of the previous rumour that only higher end one will have it.
not to mention, the redesign, lidar sensor etc.
i won't not consider this year iphone 12 series to be 'more' expensive just becos of no earpods and charging brick in the box.
Again, you misunderstand. I was not addressing the extras or improvements over previous year’s. Merely touching on the prices posted by you and commented by the other forummer.
It is a forgone conclusion that newer models will be better year in and year out. And before I am misinterpreted once again, make no mistake, iPhones are great but I strongly believe that if something or someone is good, don’t tell them it’s good, tell them what’s not good enough and hence they can improve further. In the case of mobile phones, remember, there’s no perfect phone.

12pro 256GB is RM5399 this year if factor in charger and earbud, the RM200 cheaper vs 11pro RM5599 last year is similar price for those who needs it, just too bad, with the extra RM200 less, might be using to buy charger and earbud.... for those who dont use it like me, is a little saving for me
But the graphic posted by the other forummer depicted the 256gb iPhone 12Pro’s price as RM5799. Hence, my observation. Not sure of the pricings. That’s why I asked to be corrected if I am wrong.
No charger no deal. Feels so backwards after paying premium price right? Androids are already running 120hz, Apple should at least give a 90hz screen.
For me, no charging brick aside, not to mention the earphones, the sort of deal breaker for me is the reduced battery capacity. No matter how power efficient the iPhones are, with the phones having 5G, they will definitely not last as long as we would like it to be.
High refresh rate is good to have but not end of the world without it. That’s for me.
My take on battery life for mobile phones in general and specifically on these iPhone 12s.
I have been saying for a long time that battery life is dependent on usage. So, whilst you can form an idea from other users but it will never be conclusive.
With that said, what is even more important is how much the battery drains when idling. iPhones historically have been very good in this department. But from reports, the 12s are faring badly. It could just be isolated cases thus far but it’s not something one should ignore if battery life is important to him/her.
Just my take and something to take cognisance of. I will.
Totally unlikely for iPhone 13 to have design change at all.
The overall design, yes, probably will stay for some years.
But rumours are rife that the notch will either be smaller or gone in the next iteration. They may also have an on-screen fingerprint scanner. And finally even have the USB-C port to boot.
So, yeah, design no change per se but the above to me are changes nonetheless. And it’s for the better, if true.

Yes indeed. Plus now Malaysian set has been said to use ZP region code. Same as SG set.
This is in fact good news. When the 12 Pro Max comes out, I can get someone to get it for me from across the causeway and not have to crane my neck to wait for it to come to our motherland. Cool.
damn, now that all 4 sizes is going to launch on the same date and also after extensive reviews saw on youtube, now tempted back to max just for the battery life
I doubt Apple will release the 12 Mini and Max to our neck of the woods immediately after the launch. Will have to wait our turn.
