I just read that TM going to transfer of providing public IP to private IP by phase. I think many ISP will follow suit. With Digi being the first.
*
Digi, celcom, allo and maxis by default private. Only maxis can request public with valid reason. Other strictly private only. Time and Unifi by default public and unifi made a move to transfer package 100mbps and below residential to private.

I'm currently using Unifi.
I'm a Digi Postpaid customer and considering Digi Fibre after my IPTV (SyberTV) has issues with Unifi.
After seeing so many negative comments, I'm a bit afraid to switch.

I'm same as u. My unifi contract is finish and digi got promo 300mb for rm100. That is cheaper than my current unifi 100mb for rm129.

But not sure the reliability as i work from home.

Digi reliability is not there, if there is only 1 or 2 call in to complain due to breakdown, it can take more than 1 day to restore internet connection. Better have backup plan if you want to use Digi

Can someone enlighten me about this private/public ip issue?

I have been using Maxis Fibre for years now, I remember last time I requested for public ip and they approved it. From the conversation in this thread, Digi will never give public ip.

Why would this be an issue? Surely if you have high-end router you can use free dynamic dns service such as dyndns or noip so that you can access your home network from outside instead of connecting via ip??

Am I missing something here? I am thinking of migrating to Digi since they offer 50Mbps (Maxis offers 30Mbps only for my condo). But this public ip issue is causing me to pause.

I don't have CCTV. I just want to RDP home to access my home desktop, I have been doing this for years under Maxis Fibre. Are you guys saying if I migrate to Digi I can no longer connect to home network from outside? Even after I set up dynamic DNS using noip.com?

private ip (cgnat) meaning you unable to do port forwarding.

RDP require incoming traffic port as well.

If no public IP then no RDP for you on Digi. Better stay with maxis with your needs fulfilled. I myself will be migrating to maxis fiber this January for public IP solely and price is better than unifi. Lastly better routing

Hmm.. I just googled this CGNAT thing... looks like I won't be migrating to Digi then.

I wonder why ipv6 isn't widespread by now... it has been almost 10 years. It should be the default IP address used my all ISPs, routers, OS by now.

Perhaps we need ipv4 'shutdown day' so that everyone move to ipv6 already... lol

my unifi contract expired this month.
I ask unifi whether can cut rm129 to 99 as there are rm30 for unifi tv in my bill which i not utilise at all.
They say cannot do that as rm129 is a bundle package.

Thinking to switch to Digi 50mbps to get the monthly fee reduced.

becos most of upstream provider in the world still not ready on ipv6. even if ISP using ipv6 will not benefit anything becos still need upstream provider to provide the services.

ipv6 only suitable to use in same region but not suitable to use on international due to latency higher/routing problem.

for sure ipv4 won't be shutdown in this 5 to 10 years.

Most of the upstream provider (Tier 1/Tier 2 network) already offer great support for IPv6.

I don’t see it that way that IPv6 only suitable in local but not international. As high latency or routing problem also happen in both IPv4 and IPv6 network.

is just my observation over ipv6 and ipv4. but overall ipv4 work better than ipv6 for now especially latency n routing part tongue.gif

I haven't had internet for 2 days and Digi told me the fibre team told me to wait 1 to 3 days for them to get to me. Seriously?

in your case, could we argue and get prorated rebate due to no internet connection?

If not mistaken, will reset contract.
Digi is not the first. Maxis and Celcom gives private IP by default unless user request for public IP.
*
Digi Fiber can request public IP or not?
it has many issue by using Private IP not including hosting the service by yourself...
somemore IPSEC / PPTP can cause issue if the NAT is not probably configured.

if someone using that same public IP do the spamming , that IP can be temporary blocked by the service provider and you also cannot access it.

it is cheaper because it only provide private IP?

Can straight away apply for both postpaid and fibre at Digi center. For 2 story house I would suggest you invest in buying mesh, can't expect decent performance from all ISP router.

Cannot request public IP. Heard that Maxis and Celcom can request public IP. Meanwhile, Unifi is also in the process of implementing private IP for 100mbps and below.

I would suggest u to go n register a Postpaid directly from Digi Store first (so that u can immediately get ur account & sim), then go online find for some Fibre agent for Fibre registration, which they could provide u rebates

I had the same request which unifi allowed me to remove my Hypptv (back from those days) package and only pay rm89 for unifi. Submitted online enquiry and got the callback two days ago.

Specifically told the agent and mentioned in the recorded conversation that there will be no contract extension.

Similarly, I am thinking of porting to Digi Fibre due to pricing
