I'm noob about this ipv4 ipv6 public private ip things..

I though all ISP are the same.. so from my limited  understanding  if I using Digi fibre I would not be able to use my vpn thus cannot watch netflix US / Disney + and access my cctv remotely from my hp?
*
Public ip is useful if you are hosting something at your home. Coz for me I am living abroad if want to watch axtro go, I can openvpn to my home router and watch as I am in MY (axtro is blocking commercial vpn btw), or u host movie then u setup ftp server u can access it thru ip address assigned by your isp + port forwarding.

If private ip, u cannot host & access to your home server at all.

The Vpn u mentioned is commercial vpn which is no problem connecting at all even with private/public ip.

if you're the one initiate vpn within your wifi, no problem.

Need to get answer from those who subscribe to this isp ...

if cannot get public ip and do port forward then cant download torrent .

This is handicap fiber isp .

Donkey unifi not good , at least can download torrent.

That is the main reason i subscribe fiber plan from them.

It is totally wrong to say that torrent won't work at all without port forwarding and Public IP. Heck you can even torrent with mobile data if you can sustain the needed bandwidth, and your telco do not block P2P. Except that with port forwarding other peers can find you.

Ya, even the technician also couldn't hit 50/20. Guess it is due to my area is too congested, I can see almost every neighbour houses are connected to the same tm fibre point.
*
I'm not getting my FULL 30Mbps either with my Maxis Home Fibre. Only getting about 27-28Mbps maximum.

Funny thing that this doesn't happen with TM's own Unifi plans which they intentionally do it to stifle competition with their monopoly practices. If you subscribe to their Unifi plans, they'll always cap their own fibre modems(ONTs) at higher speed than the plan you subscribed to giving you the extra space to compensate the TCP overheads.

The problem is with TM, they intentionally capped their fibre modems(ONTs) exactly as what their retail ISP's plan causing the TCP overheads to make your line SLOWER than your subscribed speed.

They implemented a very inefficient method of double level throttling on its users unlike Time and TNB Allo's network where users are only capped via the account they use.

The throttling control for instance:

TM HSBB Wholesale with competing ISP:
TM's own fibre modem(ONT) is throttled by software by TM + retail ISP's user account(2nd level speed restriction)

This increases inefficiency and bandwidth utilization greatly where it's needed. The result, increased CPU utilization of routers to process packets, increased latency due to added processing needed and it indirectly contributes towards global warming for energy wastage. Just like implementing extra MiTM DPI equipment.

If your modem is wrongly capped at say 100Mbps, while your subscribed user account is 1Gbps you still WON'T be getting what you paid for. There are times when suddenly the user cannot get the speed they subscribed but the ISP under TM wholesale network says nothing wrong is with their account. That is when they need to check with TM if their modems have been messed with.

Allo Technology and Time Fibre:

All user lines/ports have equal maximum attainable speeds. Users are just throttled by their accounts which limits the speed that they're subscribed to. If the router at your house is assigned a 1Gbps account, you get 1Gbps speed. If you're assigned to a 50Mbps account, you get only upto 50MBps speed. That is why you'll always get some extra leaked speed when conducting speed tests and this impresses the customers making them happy since they are shown that they "always" get a little more than they subscribed to. thumbup.gif

Wait, is public ip same as dynamic ip or totally different thing?

Is Digi Fibre using dynamic ip or private ip?

What is the upload speed?

Really unlimited data no cap?

The title said TM infra, whats that?

good question is why are you here , with all that question laugh.gif

anyway :

1. dynamic ip mention maybe: many shares ONE public ip, like Telco's public ip.

2. From what i heard, 50Mbps DL/20Mbps UL

3. Fibre no data cap. postpaid data or everything related to simcard,.not here.

4. Telekom Malaysia Infra. If you need to ask ask this, means you really at wrong thread..

Need more time, since Digi fibre is still expanding there may not be a lot of users to reliably tell.
