Hi everyone,
I've been facing a strange and worrying issue with my car, and I'm hoping someone here might have experienced something similar or can offer some advice.
Whenever I turn on the air conditioning, a few moments later smoke starts coming out from the engine bay. When I check, there's water everywhere around the area below the A/C compressor, and there's a strong unpleasant smell. After this happens, the A/C stops blowing cold air.
At the same time, the engine behaves oddly, it feels like it's in "power mode" (very responsive throttle) even though I'm in normal driving mode. The RPMs or engine sound seem off when I lightly press the accelerator. However, this strange behavior goes away after a while.
I brought the car to a Proton Service Centre, but they couldn’t find any clear issue. They diagnosed the air conditioning system, did a refrigerant flush, and refilled it with new gas. Everything seemed normal again, cold A/C and no weird sounds, until I switched off the engine and restarted it. Right after restarting, the same engine behavior returned, and the second time I turned on the A/C, water gushed out again, followed by smoke in the engine bay.
I believe the "smoke" might actually be steam from water evaporating off hot engine parts, but I'm not entirely sure.
Has anyone encountered this kind of issue before, with water or refrigerant leaking, strange engine behavior, and a temporary loss of A/C cooling? Would really appreciate any insights or suggestions
