My experience is stopping at a T junction on a steep slope waiting for chance to turn right.
The X50 did not move when I pressed the accelerator.
Feels like the gear not engaged and moving backwards even though I am in D.

Scary!!!

Clutch slipping?

Normal auto GB no issue.
This DCT GB got this kind of issue. Haiz.
*
even this is 'auto' gearbox, due to its dual clutch, it still need to proceed clutching.
so, on the slop you need do it like driving manual to prevent it roll back.
either:
1. press slightly more accelerator, make the rpm go up so the car can hold itself on slop.
2. or temporary disable autohold, then half release the brake, rpm will go up then move your leg to accelerator.
OR, do both at the same time.

also. i don think this car dct clutch will slip unless you seriously wear the clutch out. at least its computer wont let you do it

Anyone felt jealous that Proton South Africa actually took back their X50 to fix the wind sound noise and was given the Proton X90 as a loan car while fixing WOW talk about foreign benefits.

Another thing I jealous, their South Africa Proton website shown 5 years unlimited mileage warranty for X series. We meanwhile, 5 years*, 60k km capped for most items

I was getting notification from Atlas that battery voltage is low, so went to SC to check and they say its still fine and can last another 6 months. I am not taking the risk, planning to change it. Its 2.5years old battery.

I am skipping amaron because i am hearing very negative feedback lately.
So, Camel/Varta is a good choice for FS?

500+CCA actually fine if they using correct procedure to test.
mind to share your mileage. because if you always use your car/high mileage. battery will stay alive longer.
i changed my stock camel battery on 2yr+, 60k+ mileage with 480cca left, then go amaron. the old camel i gift to neighbour's exora. it still work until now 3yr already.

yep, i skipping amaron too for next battery with drama of manufacture location, QC standard etc etc.
but this one old stock actually work better than i imagine lol

thats actually average malaysian car usage.
average malaysian 10K per year.

try drive 2~3 months more, if it still work by that time check CCA and decide change or not
this camel battery actually quite holding charge if you really drive the car and charge it.
high mileage user rarely complain the battery dead, mostly happen on low mileage.

Yeah that's the thing haha, its my parents are driving them, cant imagine them stuck in the roadside out of nowhere.

But I still need battery recommendations, maybe buy online then ask SC install or outside shops.

Hi, everytime i start my car and start driving, there'll be a "tik" or "click" sound around the pedal/brake area. For those who watch Paul Tan's review, it's when he was using ICC, the tik/click sound keeps coming on/ Any idea what sound is that and is it normal?

Sometimes that sound will come out when i drove over a rough surface.

ticking while moving or parking still?
if ticking while moving most likely flywheel issue.

Hi guys, I'm back with the tyre question.. Now my X50 FS is at 45,000km and the tyre shop recommend to change because the tyre year make was in 45th week of 2020 and can cause "hardening after 3 years".. However, threadwear indicator still looks like ~1-2mm above the minimum threshold bump.

3 questions - appreciate if anyone using the Michelin tyres can weigh in..
1. Does this make sense to change? I'm hearing mixed opinions about this and the shop is bullshiting about the hardening
2. I have mostly decided to change to Michelin and don't plan to change rims. For the R18 rims spec, I found 3 suitable tyres - which do you recommend? My use case is 50% KL city driving, 30% drive to Selangor/PJ on weekends and 20% outstation roadtrips e.g. to Penang/Johor. I do enjoy spirited driving and prefer quieter tyres but tyre price and FC is less of a concern. Prices above from Michelin website before Shopee/Lazada sale.
A) Pilot Sport 5 235/50R18, est RM812/pc
B) Pilot Sport 4 SUV 235/50R18, est RM1308/pc
C) Primacy 4 215/55R18 (perfect fit), RM741/pc
3. I live around KL city center - any recommended shops besides TyrePlus and Lim Tayar?

Thanks so much, sifus!

1. yes tires do harden from UV exposure, it is good practice to change but not absolutely need to.
2. for standard 18" rim width max width is 225mm. 235mm is not recommended as it is out of spec for rim width
3. i dun live in those areas.

You should observe in 4th year if there are any telltale signs. On 5th year highly recommended to change.

Among the 3 options, Primacy 4 should be the most quiet.

Yes tyres do get hardening. I think youd get better replies in tyre sub forum.

Usually. Normally. Recommended after xxk km. Or few years. Same just like service. Most car if parked outside and kena sun. Yeap. And depending if you do rotate your tyres frequently.

I changed mine at 52k km. With plenty of flower still to primacy 4. Some older roads its noisy. Newer roads. Very quiet. Also i moved from the original conti uc6. Those are shyt. Slippery at the sight of wet roads

i change my tyre on 70k, 3yr+- range.
actually due to 'makan dalam' on all 4, due to the one shop i go messed up all these long.

from stock Conti UC6 to Toyo CR1. keeping the same size. 470~480 each.
now used 7~10K mileage, dry performance good. wet will 'float' a bit compare to UC6.

*outtopic*
if me choice again, i will go UC6 again than this CR1 lol. the price different be like 50~70 each
