Anyone here upgraded their speaker? Planning to upgarde to a slightly better one than stock with budget around rm2k. Any recommendations especially from Penang would be great
In x70, people do it by installing a dsp, it sure improve a lot for sound quality. People even commented that the HU lack of dsp is the reason of poor sound quality, not the speaker mainly.
For me I felt that current stock sound is ok already, especially for Bluetooth (Spotify/YouTube), while radio sounds do lacking some bass. Im not an audiophile person. I believe x50 hu also lack of dsp.

would like to ask during driving mode, will the door will be auto lock? secondly, can the passenger open the door during car is moving? As i notice, once in parking mode, the passenger door can be open by pulling twice until driver unlock the door.

Normal conti behaviour. U still can open the door from inside even it is lock.
Still ok lah pulling twice. Ford like mine one time sudah open. Door lock only prevent people coming from outside.
I believe this is due to safety regulation. When accident happened passenger can open the door easier.
In fact, if car wanna put auto lock, they must put auto unlock when airbag deployed.
Now since SST extended got more chance to have X50.
Can you guys check my theory since QDLink do not allow sideload of apps, can we mirror an Android device, and sideload the CarPlay dongle app on that Android? Picture for clarity.
Means we need to buy the following: (I feel investment is less) 1. Cheap android tablet / phone to hide and mirror 2. USB hub & USB cables 3. CarPlay dongle for android.

Out of many car i have driven, almost all can open door by pulling twice from inside when door is lock. If your concern is for your child, make sure to put child lock mode on.
I did not have x50, but my x70 is as above.

Can it work?
Will ask over at X70 as well.
Can I know your target outcome? If u want to play YouTube when on driving, currently the Easycon did not lock while drive for Apple devices. I had tried with my kids ipad and it work out for YouTube via Easycon.
On Android it is lock as normal. Only Waze, Google Maps will not lock

Target outcome would be using Apple CarPlay from the screen directly with touch capability. This include Waze, Spotify, etc. I found other ways to sideload APK in GKUI but need to install China Geely firmware instead. Very scary if goes wrongly.
Russia forum managed to get it to work after installing China firmware.

Thanks for the suggestion. Does installing DSP requires any wiring cut?

I doubt it'll work. It'll required the tablet to receive input display and output the display at the same time through a single usb port.

Thanks Jay. Meh. Then will resort to android phone staying in the car with QDLink and hotspot to my iPhone then.
This way at least can use Waze and Spotify / YouTube music with the display touch capability.
iPhone will just Bluetooth.
There's an alternative solution but I'm not sure if it can work between iPhone and tablet. There's apps in Android that can mirror your android phone to another android device screen. If iPhone can then you can skip using the carplay dongle.

There is a video in YouTube where someone had installed YouTube, waze, Spotify apps on his x70. He even mentioned the risk while doing it and not recommend it to everyone. From the video, it does look laggy especially Waze.

hi, can ask do u mean I can use Google Map and Waze on the X50 using this EasyCon app ? If so, does the touch screen work too ? thanks !
It is also severely underpowered for an AWD, which does not make it fun to drive. Subaru is the market leader for AWD, but unless the XV is turbocharged, it will be a slow stable drive (boring). EyeSight is more than just collision warning: http://www.subarueyesight.com
Let's not also forget the poor after sales service by TCM.
It isn't underpowered at all imo, you can't compare it with x50 knowing that its of an older gen. Apple vs orange comparison. Take an XV off road, it will smoke the x50 anytime. Anyways the XV should be getting a 1.6 turbocharged engine this year I believe.

as there is more merit, surprised why nobody converting to XV lol
Actually I was considering to get the XV before x50 launched but kept my decision on hold to wait for the x50. I have decided to go for the x50 because I do not need an AWD considering for the price difference although it is a nice to have during the rainy days. Without the x50, I would pick the XV over the HR-V anytime. This year would be interesting if they can come out with the 1.6 turbocharged version considering that the SST have extended.

The XV won't be getting the 1.6 turbo engine here in Malaysia. MotorImage (TCM) has not been a good distributor for our market. Unfortunately, they are slow to update the car and bring in new features, even if the same facelift has already received the updates in other markets. Also the EyeSight for XV was promised to arrive by late 2019, yet until now no updates on it.
The XV may be well planted, but it is sluggish, even performing slower than the HRV in the century sprint. Maybe you are special in that you have plans to take your car off-road regularly, but I can assure you that most drivers won't. Taking it off-road regularly would require special tires for that and won't be as comfortable on roads.
