CB are wel known to be quite hard to unclip...if u are already pro at using clipless, i think u shud be ok

alot of DH riders tend to use SPD coz they can adjust the spring tension...not sure bout CB eggbeater, but used to use CB mallets, that one really nice but quite hard to unclip sweat.gif

Go to a bicycle shop and buy. They will also help to setup the bike for your kid.
Support your local bike shops so that they will be around when you need them to repair and service your bikes.

Where is your location?

If I may suggest, never buy cheap kids bike from online. Go to a physical shop to view, test ride. And if you buy from shop, you get lifetime support to fix things.

I will also add not to buy cheap bikes from Hypermarkets also. The bikes are badly built and very poor quality. Your local bike shop will have much better quality bikes that have been built properly and will help you to fix any problems when needed.
For kids no need to buy expensive bikes but cheap out too much (online/hypermarket) and your kids will not enjoy cycling coz of the bad experience.

I think I saw polygon bikes for kids. Try rodalink Bangsar or branches or any of your local bike shop nearby.

I would advise to go to physical shop and check out the bike there , especially when it comes to size and fitment.

need some advise.
my son going to SMK nearby house next year. i've been considering to get him a bike to let him go & back from school himself.
the distance between school & house is less than 2km.
which is more suitable, mountain bike or hybrid bike?

What do you mean by hybrid bike? You mean a foldable one?

Since it’s a school, a simple hardtail mountain bike should do.

A simple & cheap hard tail mountain bike would do. Don't get too expensive then will get stolen or parts will go missing. Or a commuter bike, but kids won't like it coz it doesn't look cool.

If he is not going to off-road with this bike, get him a hybrid - mountain bike with slick/road tyres.

Using a off-road knobbly tyres on tarmac is not easy, a lot of rolling resistance. Get him a road tyres. Such as maxxis detanator. Good stuff. I'm using this on one of my old mountain bike.

Now a good entry level mtb (at least a polygon or camp) starts at around rm3k to rm4k.
