Nowadays where got ‘simple off-road trails’ in KL anymore? At one time FRIM is that, but no more accessible to us.

Kemansah ?

I’m a regular at Kemensah…uphill towards Bkt Pau is nice and smooth, but the trail to the dam is another story….and the other trails leading to waterfalls are also ‘killers’ ….. 😁

You regular at Bukit Dinding?
*
No, never rode there yet. Although I should one day before I get too old. 😬

As for Kemensah, sometimes it’s on Saturday, other times it’s Sunday. All depends on the other two riding kaki I go with.

I would love to join, but I am such a noob rider pushing in downhill and not to mention uphill  laugh.gif

So, I better stay out and ride alone.
*
I go there often on weekends and still push up some hills 😅.

The next time my buddy and I go there again (probably next weekend), we may try to find that trail leading to another waterfall (not Sofea Jane).

Could be the ATV centre is bringing customers into Sofea Jane .  Hence they somehow have authority to issue the permit (for themselves)?
*
There are two trails (side-by-side) leading to Sofea Jane, IIRC. The left side is for ATVs, the right for hikers and MTB. It is the right side that is barred , but the left seems to be unhindered. But this is from my memory from many months ago. Maybe it's different now.

I'm quite bummed they also barred hikers/MTB from going up to Lubuk Tedung.

Invite pls

This weekend I gotta work. Next weekend sounds do-able.

Working on my stamina now.

We’ve been to that waterfall once before long time ago before MCO even began. Just feel like want to see it again.

Sure, will update here next week once we have planned it. Currently my kaki has sent his bike for servicing. Hopefully it can be ready next week.

I do plan to get one watch.
Which you recommend?

I thought of getting those cyclo meters with hb monitoring.
*
Garmin watches , and with those chest straps for more accurate HR measurements.

Or perhaps a Garmin cycling computer (Edge series) paired to the chest strap, if you don’t like watches.

bryton 320 is good enough for me.

i compared it to my old Polar HRM its quite accurate and can catch all my peak HR.

maybe get a xoss or magene computer and pair it with bryton chest strap for budget.
*
Can Bryton store topo maps?

Oredi went today…Kemensah…burned way too many calories and HR went full maximum…so much so Garmin suggested I need 45 hours to recover!

From Jinbara climbed to Bukit Pau, then to Che Mah, down to Melawati and back to car. About 14km in total.

why? you dont need it?

Yeah, exactly that. Especially when considered the type of riding I do (slow and steady XC), I don’t think I require it. I know accidents can and do happen, but that’s the risk I’ll take.

Actually, it's more to road ride..  and sometimes im kinda rough person... personally like mtb more
*
Sorry, I still don’t follow. When you say you like MTB more, do you mean you like the activity or you like an MTB bicycle?

And if you are only going to be doing road rides, then this carbon Java MTB bike is not really suitable, imo.

But if you do intend to ride it in the off-road trails often (and maybe sometimes on tarmac road), then it is good enough for that purpose.
