Hi guys, I recently bought a used full-suspension bike which comes with an older model Yari. I found out that the air spring can be upgraded to the newer Debonair air spring but can't find the one that is suitable for my fork for sale anywhere. Will bike shops know where to source them?

I plan to service the forks and upgrade the air spring in a few months. For now plan to ride it as it is first to get a feel of how well it works.

I'm from Rawang. I am willing to go to Cheras to get the upgrade done. This kind of thing needs several days to do or they can do on the same day?

Magura brakes quite cheap if buy from German online retailers even when shipping is included. Not sure about customs duties and sales tax on importation though.
Tempted to buy their 4 pot brakes, but my skill level is still newbie, not worth upgrading brakes yet.

Hi guys.

Wanna know your thoughts for those who are experienced.

I use the external boot bike carrier. The one that we attach on/at the boot of the car, and carry the bike externally.

Now, my top tube is pretty low and the space between top tube and rear shocks is too small (full sus), my carrier clamp can't go thru.

Can I clamp my rear shocks stanchion instead? I'm afraid that I may scratch/dent the shocks stanchion...
Any of you have been doing that all these while?

Pls advise.
*
Don't clamp your stanchions. You will damage it.

Thanks. Ordered 1 already.
Ya. Thats my concern. Ok thanks bro. How's your progress abt your shox so far? Did you call Leon?
*
Not yet, still familiarising with the bike and fork characteristics.
Will only start checking out next month once I have more experience with the bike so that I can appreciate any upgrade.

Ahhh. Good call. Don't be like me. Everything also wanna upgrade. No baseline to refer to lol.

Yeah, I have made many "upgrades" like that before ended up not knowing for sure whether it was worth it or not. Nowadays I try to do one thing at a time so at least I can tell whether there is a difference.

Gap jumps?  no thanks.
I will leave these for the youngsters.

Just do the normal jumps and drops is good enough.
Few months ago I crashed hard in Dinding until i crashed down the ravine (Fakawi trail).  Took 2 weeks rest to recover.  Luckily i was wearing protective gears.  just that i crashed and landed hard on my left shoulder.  Didn't break though.

That's why for the next few months, i will just do normal XC.    I am climbing Mount KK early next year.  Wouldn't want to get injured.
you watch Steve Yap channel.  Last week he crashed hard after failing to clear a gap.
OUCH!!!!!

@10:30

and Van Gal Yuka crashed hard yesterday.  Injured,  Broke her tail bone, stick cucuk into her butt.  Luckily didn't paralyse.

@4:55 onwards.
scary
*
Thanks for the safety awareness video. I am too old to get injured like this and will probably lose my job if I have to go on long medical leave.
I will take it slow from now on as I sometimes get too excited to try new stuff and bigger jumps.

Just know and ride within your limits.

No need to impress others or get pressured by riding mates.

I'm a noob so still trying to understand my limits. But I am going to be more cautious from now.

Good to go with someone who has experience and can guide you.

It took me awhile to take the drop at trail 5 despite me being an advance rider (when I was young I used to trial ride hence my shin got many scars). Just didn't dare mentally. Don't push it.
When can ride with you bro?
*
I mostly ride alone and sometimes convince my friend to join. Still relatively new to the sport.
I am rawang area and usually ride here. Have not been to Kiara yet. Will come Kiara after I have more confidence.

Rawang? Never hear any trails there.

I'm suggesting pcp not kiara ahahaha.

Kiara is advance level. Trails have alot roots.. that's where I flipped my bike
*
Rawang got many unknown trails. Some are maintained, some are not but mostly kelapa sawit trails. The better known ones are in Bukit Kuari and Bukit Beruntung.

PCP too far away, 70km from my place. Will eventually go there once I get into better shape as I saw videos of it and it looks quite nice compared to the trails at my place.

Check the hub bearings.
Looking at the cassette and the type of axle.  I guess this bike must be at least 25 years old
*
Bro, still many new bikes using this type of axle and cassette. In fact I think these are the most common types on most bikes.
We tend to forget that most bikes are cheap and come with these old style components.

any recommend place/website/shoppe/lazada to buy and view the MB for kid age 9 ( height 110-120cm)?
*
Go to a bicycle shop and buy. They will also help to setup the bike for your kid.
Support your local bike shops so that they will be around when you need them to repair and service your bikes.

Where is your location?

I will also add not to buy cheap bikes from Hypermarkets also. The bikes are badly built and very poor quality. Your local bike shop will have much better quality bikes that have been built properly and will help you to fix any problems when needed.
For kids no need to buy expensive bikes but cheap out too much (online/hypermarket) and your kids will not enjoy cycling coz of the bad experience.

went to decathlon & saw this type called hybrid, a mix between road & mountain bike.
*
A simple & cheap hard tail mountain bike would do. Don't get too expensive then will get stolen or parts will go missing. Or a commuter bike, but kids won't like it coz it doesn't look cool.

would a RM400 mtb be sufficient for those beginner trails?
*
Nowadays RM400 only can get the bikes that Banglas use one. Want proper MTB is very expensive already. Better to look for used bikes, at least possible to get better bike.

Hi all,

i recently bought a bike online and it requires some assembly. everything was set up save for the rear brakes which i'm currently having an issue with it.

the front brake is connected to the left handlebar and so far, no issue with it.

the rear brake is connected to the right handlebar and is giving me major issue.

user posted image

basically:-
(1) when the handlebar is straight, depressing the brake lever engages the brake;
(2) BUT whenever i turn the handlebar right then the brake automatically engages (see GIF)
(3) whenever i turn the handlebar left, the cable seems to have loosen and depress the brake lever doesn't engages the brake.

did i do something wrong?

append below is the picture of how i assemble the cable to the calipers.

It is possible that you do not have enough slack in your cable/cable housing. You need to leave some access cable so that when you turn the handlebars there is enough cable so that it doesn't pinch on your discs causing unintended braking. If the cable housing already cut short, then need to buy new cable housing and cables.

If you are not very good at troubleshooting, just bring it to a bike shop, sometimes these things get solved very fast by the bike mechanics while we need to trouble-shoot for a long time. Last time I like to trouble shoot and fix things myself but sometimes it gets very frustrating and time-consuming.
