need some advise.
my son going to SMK nearby house next year. i've been considering to get him a bike to let him go & back from school himself.
the distance between school & house is less than 2km.
which is more suitable, mountain bike or hybrid bike?

What do you mean by hybrid bike? You mean a foldable one?

Since it’s a school, a simple hardtail mountain bike should do.

went to decathlon & saw this type called hybrid, a mix between road & mountain bike.

A simple & cheap hard tail mountain bike would do. Don't get too expensive then will get stolen or parts will go missing. Or a commuter bike, but kids won't like it coz it doesn't look cool.

the cheapest available in decathlon is over Rm 500 (after discount) sad.gif

Can try your local bike shops maybe can get a bit cheaper but I think budget range is now around RM500 already.

Now a good entry level mtb (at least a polygon or camp) starts at around rm3k to rm4k.

that price is way over my budget shocking.gif

thanks for your recommendations, i bought a RM 500 foldie for him.

i'm not a bike enthusiast, i'm not gonna spend over thousands for a bike.

even if the bike is for my self the budget would be about RM 1000 only.
