QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Sep 14 2024, 11:16 AM) Old post but thought I'd post here since I've experienced the same humming sound on new Continental UC6 tyres fitted on the Nissan Almera. I've used Toyo CR1 before (new tyres) on Ford Focus and there's no humming issue at all. I am not sure if the humming sound from the tyres is due to the tyre itself ie. swollen, hard rubber of the tyre, or something else that is contributing to the humming sound not related to tyres. When I experienced the humming sound from the new tyres (Continental UC6) on the new car, I brought it to the service centre to complain. The wheel bearing was checked and reported to be not the cause of the humming sound. Then, the vehicle was sent to the Continental tyre shop, arranged by the service centre representative. Several checks and test drives were carried out by the tyre shop which including checking the thickness of the rubber and balancing, swapping all 4 tyres around rear to front and front to rear etc. In the end it's a futile exercise as the humming sound is still there. In summary there is no solution so have to live with the humming sound before the tyres are all worn out and replaced to new tyres. Hopefully the humming sound will be gone after replacing the tyres to new tyres. The humming sound only comes up at around 30km/h to 80 km/h, and only on bad or rough surface roads. On good condition road surface it's silent or very soft humming sound. The humming sound gets loud only when the vehicle travels on certain road surface where the bituminous surface is rougher or worn out. when the car is jacked up, spin the tyres and check carefully to see if the tread oscillates. thats what my mechanic did to check if my tyre is swollen. the swelling is not visible from far. but when you spin the tyre and look carefully at the tread, you can see the surface of the tread moves up and down. its very slight but can cause humming.

It is still a budget tire, but if your driving thru corners in high speed it is not good. Felt few times the car like to sway in corners, normal road driving is ok.

I not those kaki TTs session and etc.. just daily commute less than 20km per day. Yearly round trip maybe 1000km only.

Would like to stick back Toyo https://www.toyotiresasia.com/tire-size-sea...o50&size=size17Just go Toyo website to check your tire size got any other models. TR1 consider as UHP tires, while CF2 is imported tire model from Japan for premium touring. Cost for sure is more expensive than CR1.

I’m using the CR1 195/60R16 overall it’s quite good overall and never had any issue with the grip. Just on highway it may feel a little floaty when traveling at faster speeds. Would the Michellin primacy 4 fare any better?

Regretted fitting Toyo Proxes into my cars. Within 3 years needed to change even when mileage was low. These tires are really for budget. Changed to continental UC7 and CC. Drives so much better. And yes, obviously you pay for the quality. Just that i dont think it is worth using cheap tires since the quality of the drive is improved by quite a lot with only maybe 30% more in price

I am using it on my smaller Kelisa ride already near 20k still see the treads like got 50~60% left, estimate should be able to last around 40~50k easily before hitting the safety line.

Primacy is consider premium touring tires, overall should fare better as you pay more expensive. https://www.tyrereviews.com/Search/Size/195...6/Season/Summer Others tire to considerate - Faken ZE310, Hankook VP4 & Maxxis HP5 This 3 are mid-range tires, which i think is quite value for money for the performance given.

Aku pakai TR1 ok jugak. Harganya hampir sama dengan CR1. Dry and wet grip quite good. Tried hard braking on rainy days on empty street at 30km/h, it stops dead and doesn't slide. Lasted also around 60,000+km and am going to change tyres early next year

QUOTE(BL98 @ Aug 9 2024, 08:50 PM) CR1>Ecopia in many ways CR1 is grippier, less noisy, and less rolling resistance. Used the tyre for a year now after changing from Ecopia. Feels like CR1 is the best among all equivalent range of tyres I had CR1 on my Alza as original equipment and after change to Hankook Eco2 I feel much better in both dry and wet grip. Only thing CR1 done better is the CR1 slightly quieter.

Not sure if that makes any difference in performance.

Not sure if that makes any difference in performance. Most likely not much different. There are many BMW or Mec OE are with special mark but many drivers change after market without the OE mark and performance just similar. Btw CR1 an entry level tyre and we can't ask for more compare to touring or sport tyre. If we take comparison between the entry level product I will not recommend CR1.
