Hey there folks I recently picked up the hobby. I got to know a certain board is live & looking forward on the purchase. Currently using MX Speed Silver from K70 & looking at the following switches:-
Aqua King v3 Zeal Tealio Durock Dolphin Initially I am interested at Banana split but unfortunately it doesn't offer light diffusion/bottom housing cut out. Anyone here have experience on the above? Appreciate as well if anyone could share their input on other similar switches from my choice as well. PS:- Durock's Dolphin kind of pique my interest due to its stem color & I have no experience on Silent Linear. |

I thought of hearing folks around here on their experience with their current switch/es especially on linear ones. All the while I'm only know the ones from Cherry & kinda surprised with many brand of switches in the market.buy 10 each and try it ... it can be less than 10 though according to your budget but this is my 2 cents .. as mentioned before it is up to the individual to get the best of all worlds P/S: amazon is selling RM120 per 20 pieces including shipping for dolphin Dolphin is not sold locally but I manage to find one from Aliexpress, which I think it's flat rate across. Durock Store As for Zeal's offering, I'm unsure which source to go to (especially the ones from China or local) as previously there are clones based on some article over the web. (T1s, Durock, and the Stealios Controversy) At the moment I don't have a board to test those switches until next year when they fulfill the group buy. It's gonna be a long wait. |

(T1s, Durock, and the Stealios Controversy) At the moment I don't have a board to test those switches until next year when they fulfill the group buy. It's gonna be a long wait. - aqua king v3 has the least stem wobbles (and sliders, switch top, bottom housing are transparent pc); - zeal tealio has switch top wobbles (so it's better to get some switch films), and there are cheaper alternatives; - durock dolphin has a relatively mushy feel (all silent linear switches have that in general) in reality, it's better to get some for each to try out first. they feel and sound differently, but such qualities are subjective to preferences. for zeal tealios v2, you can get it from the official gateron shop at taobao, https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=595375154187 (branded as gateron tealios v2) again, it's better to check out alternatives cruzzmz liked this post

QUOTE(horns @ Apr 20 2022, 10:08 PM) in short, Yeah should be doing so. I realized that different reviewer yields different sound profile despite being the same switch & could likely be due to their setup on both the board as well as their recording instruments. Thanks for the input.- aqua king v3 has the least stem wobbles (and sliders, switch top, bottom housing are transparent pc); - zeal tealio has switch top wobbles (so it's better to get some switch films), and there are cheaper alternatives; - durock dolphin has a relatively mushy feel (all silent linear switches have that in general) in reality, it's better to get some for each to try out first. they feel and sound differently, but such qualities are subjective to preferences. for zeal tealios v2, you can get it from the official gateron shop at taobao, https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=595375154187 (branded as gateron tealios v2) again, it's better to check out alternatives QUOTE(krayden @ Apr 20 2022, 10:13 PM) Or tecsee ice candy as an alternative to aquakings. That's a good alternative & will keep note of that. It is quite similar to aqua king from my findings. Out my choice, specification/build wise to be honest the aqua king ticks most of my checkbox , tealio in between while the dolphin is mainly due to stem color & uncharted territory. There's also a super cheap outemu transparent linear at aliexpress. QUOTE(niakulah @ Apr 20 2022, 10:56 PM) Horns is the linear expert here. But I'm a Gazzew fanboy so I just wanna highlight the Gazzew Boba LT and Bobagum(silent linear) Yeah appreciate his thoughts on this. For the Gazzew that you recommended it is interesting but unfortunately light diffusion is one of my needs. Though after installing keycaps (especially the non-backlit compatible) pales the lighting, I'm sure that this will freshen up my experience with the board every time I use (the board I'm going for is south facing LEDs). Nothing wild, simple array of lights does that for me (I have a choice to turn it off when I don't feel like it, which is a plus). The only minor gripe I have with my K70 Speed Silver is the accidental input whenever I rest my fingers on the keycaps. Other than that, no complaints whatsoever. My new upcoming board is just to try out something new (TKL) or possibly cultivate the hobby. This post has been edited by sshhcps: Apr 21 2022, 02:40 PM |

Nothing wild, simple array of lights does that for me (I have a choice to turn it off when I don't feel like it, which is a plus). I'm assuming the board you're going for has SMD RGB LEDs? Transparent bottom and top housings would be best, but transparent top with a bottom that has LED cutouts work too. The bobagums have an RGB variant with clear tops. Or you can buy the clear tops separately. The effect is not bad:The only minor gripe I have with my K70 Speed Silver is the accidental input whenever I rest my fingers on the keycaps. Other than that, no complaints whatsoever. My new upcoming board is just to try out something new (TKL) or possibly cultivate the hobby. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UIwoUkdDjAc If the board is not using SMD but using in switch LEDs, it doesn't matter all that much. This is my keyboard with fully opaque Boba U4T switches with in switch LEDs: Not to be pushing Gazzew, I'm not getting a commission or anything. But this should open up your options to other brands that may have clear tops. |
