i usually do this with compatible spare parts and left-overs from previous projects. as long as they have characteristics that i want, they will work fine.

tbh, it's better to get familiar with all parts in switches from common brands, in terms of their characteristics. (e.g. switch top, bottom housing, spring, slider, contact leaf). if you're familiar with them, you might be able to create frankenswitches using alternative parts, with similar outcomes. however, if you're a purist, then you can stick to the original formula.

oh. in that case, you might not have other options, as those are base parts for your switches that you want.

other than switches, you should also consider impacts of other parts/mods in mkb on the outcomes. it's the combination of these parts/mods that makes a build what it is.

Hi I am new to this scene. Currently owning Cooler Master Ck350 with Outemu brown.

Wanna try out smaller keyboard layout with hot-swappable switches.
I have a few listed:
- Tecware B68
- KBD67 Lite R3 (to join GB in Nov)

Wonder if KBD67 Lite is worth it over Tecware B68? I am not too sure what are the actual differences since B68 seems to have decent build quality too.

Initially I considered rk71 but changed my mind due to build quality.

For those not looking to mod (and looking for quieter keys to not disturb others in proximity) which would be better, RK61 or K12?  Also am actually thinking about RK71 or K6 (arrow keys....), is the only difference between these and the RK61/K12 the layout?

btw i just bought my first cheap mech keyboard, and i love that typing experience but still cannot accept that noise ....
any solutions ?

i just got Cherry G80-3000 S TKL non-backlit version, with cherry mx red (i posted the links to the options before)

for those who appreciate it, it's a good choice to keep as reference. (tbh, it's very affordable) imo boards with cherry mx switches are still relevant today, because they represent the beginning of what we have achieved so far, e.g., scratchiness of stock switches tells us why lubing matters. by the way, people tend to tell the story about scratchiness of cherry mx. they almost never mention how to make them better; other good qualities were failed to be mentioned as well, for so many years. sometimes it did sound like a planned marketing that attempted to make competitions look bad by certain parties to me. unfortunately, many others preferred to swallow these stuff blindly.

while there are design flaws, cherry mx key switch design is what survived compared to many others, and it's still a standard that shapes this rich ecosystem that we have now.

to me, cherry mx is still a good reference in many areas, be it good or bad.
