Is this real cherry mx keys or cherry like switches? AKAIK rk uses oetemu switches which is cherry like, and not cherry mx switch?

- Should be legit, RK61 uses Kailh sockets which are not meant for regular Outemu switches.

- Cherry is not a great switch anyways, don't stress over the clones.

tbh, the base costs of me building my 64-key bare bone is around 250 to 350myr each (depending on parts that i choose; just pcb, plate, plate foam, stabilizers; costs of switches, and consumables for mods are not included)

it's a hobby to me, so it's just a small fraction of price to pay for enjoying the whole tune-and-build processes, and the satisfaction when expected outcomes are achieved

ah ok. now I'm wondering if it watched or read correctly on what Gazzew said, or what I assumed what he said. cause I watched a follow up video by Taeha where he was lubing again with Gazzew's recommendations with a more minimal application.

Hi, noobie here. Been using mkb's with cheapo blues for a few years now and want to switch to linear. Looking for a keyboard with these features;

- hot swappable
- compact (ish)
- has arrow keys
- RGB
- Wireless 2.4G
- Budget RM350~

Saw this taobao mkb floating around here and kinda interested in it since it looks like it matches most of my spec but but don't know what the options are cuz I can't read Mandarin and also not familiar with TTC switches/ colors. Can someone advise me on which option to choose for best silent linears or tactiles? also does the keyboard comes with lubed switches/stabs?

Might order this through an agent. Already have the keycaps.

Yup, for newbies like me, the PBT caps itself cost me about 150; damn hurt!

But after a while when i saw someone bought a set of mechanical keyboard about 1k, getting better after that

there are many types of users in the mkb community, from those who just want a prebuilt that meets their needs, to those who look for the best possible options for themselves in every department. most of the times, individual choices depend heavily on preferenes, experience, and expectations.

i do hope beginners learn by understanding the basics of mkb at their own pace, instead of chasing blindly after hear-says and hypes. this hobby is not really a rabbit hole. it's user choices that make it look like one.

The option with no switches will still come with stabilizers right? Planning on using some gateron yellows on it.
how's the RGB on the board? Do you control it on the board itself or is there a software that comes with it, or just static rainbow?

as of this writing, the better pcb-mount screw-in stabilizers are:

1. everglide crystal v2;
2. equalz v2/v3.

the above are designed wire blockers, to prevent the wires from popping out.

between the two revisions of equalz stabs, it's better to get v3 for relatively straight wires, and a pack of pads for various mods.

melgeek's is just like everglide v1.

Pulled the trigger on an IKBC MF108, brown switch... only "test" was watching several youtube videos... also IKBC seems like a "trusted" brand. Should be alright I suppose?

ikbc mf108 is ok imo. here's the link to their manuals and firmwares, https://www.ikbckeyboard.com/copy-of-downloads (note: if it doesn't have issues, i think you don't need to do anything to the firmware)

i was waiting for their tkl mf87 v2. however, it didn't happen, so i have moved on. i know i can get it from sg. however i wanna have local units.

thanks for the info! do you have any recommendations for good quality / unique keycaps? I want to spruce the keyboard up with some accent colours, nice unique keycaps for certain keys, etc. i think the keyboard comes with PBT doubleshot already so dont want to change to anything inferior.

there are plenty of choices if you want good stuff. you can take a look at the current group buys at places like https://www.mechgroupbuys.com/

other than that, you can check out kbdfans, zfrontier, monokei.co, etc. (tbh, many of them)

the usual good stuff, cherry profile, are from epbt, crp, jtk, and gmk. there are other brands, with different profiles, e.g., maxkey (sa profile), and melgeek (mda/mg profile).

just got the clarification from the seller, the kit itself comes with a set of stabilizers.

the LED to be honest is not that bright compared to others; I suspect its because the TTC switches come with opaque bottom housing. I only turn use the RGB for pictures anyway, it has 18 light modes (didn't really count) but I can confirm it doesn't have the audio visualizer mode.

I only found a driver for the TKL in the groupchat. For the 940v2 there is a firmware but some users reported bug with their 940v2 which requires needs to unplug from the pc to reconnect

this is just part of my work since mco started. it's time to put them into their respective boxes. there are many builds that i like. they will show up in my rotation list when i think of them haha

wow... you really like the 64 layout. I also like my GK64 but sometimes, I really hope there's a small gap between the right ctrl and the left arrow. Maybe I should just remove the right ctrl key. haha...

yes, 64 is my go-to layout. i am used to it since gk64. my fingers can ngam ngam place on arrow keys to navigate without looking at them lol

(this is also why i stick to cx60 as my go-to solderable pcb these days, beside dz60 and yd60mq. it's a rare single-layout pcb if you're into 64)

right, just take it out if you rarely use it to have a blocker-style space. i use right ctrl sometimes, so i keep it.
