You can store money in the Wise currency accounts including MYR, and receive money from others to those accounts as well:

Hmm....it says cannot receive from Outside Malaysia. What if I am in Japan and access my Maybank/Ambank/etc and transfer RM to my Wise account? Consider "Outside Malaysia"? Or still "Inside.Malaysia"?.

As long I can get RM into my WIse, I can continue convert them to Yen even if I am in Japan, right?

The MYR account in Malaysia can only receive money from Malaysian banks. If you are in Japan, you can transfer RM from a Malaysian bank to your wise MYR account. If you want to spend it in Japan, then I suggest you convert to JPY first, then swipe your Wise card in Japan for Wise exchange rates without using cash.

Yes, all available transactions are valid no matter where you are in the world. You're still using your registered Wise account in Malaysia.

Btw, if card lost, you can use the app to freeze it immediately. I only use the virtual card for online purchase. Once done, i will freeze the virtual card.

But when you transfer from Ambank, also need OTP from Ambank right? Or they have solely use the secured verification? I can't remember. Like Maybank still use OTP for small amount and bigger amount only use the Secured Verification via app.

Updated:

Is it transfer to WISE bank from your bank like this?
it's normal DUITNOW transfer like local bank, e.g. AMBANK to MAYBANK, there is dedicated bank account associate with your WISE account. You can find your specific account number in WISE, the bank name is JPMorgan Chase Bank Berhad

But it is not instant right? It takes 1 business day if I'm not mistaken to appear in WISE account. Or am I wrong?

FPX is instant..

@CommodoreAmiga btw, transfer this way (to JP Morgan), there is delay of fund to appeared in WISE, it could take 10-15 minutes, unlike FPX which is immediate update.
you may need to top up ahead an hour earlier, instead of last minute while queueing for payment doh.gif

I don't know, I think its best to ask WISE support. They reply pretty fast to email.within 1-2 days. I asked them about Japan as well to double confirm, but they like to putar Halim.a bit and always point to that default information page which doesn't clarifies my questions. Basically, they answered like 80% of my questions. Another 20% seems ok, but it would be better if they just answer my questions without beating around bushes. Anyway, go ask them and push them.

Yes, can. You should read the info at WISE website if you haven't yet.

My concern is to get cash from WISE and top up from my bank account if necessary. I don't want to carry too much cash at any one time.
ATM has a withdrawal limit of RM1K, more than this you will be charged 1.75% on the excess + RM5 withdrawal fees. The RM5 withdrawal fees is charged everytime regardless how much you withdraw.

Update:
This is good read too

Hi guys! Just came back from my Taiwan trip, sharing my experience using Wise card there.

I was able to withdraw cash using Bank of Taiwan ATM, I was only charged the Wise conversion fee, no additional ATM fees. Wise deducted 210.86 USD for 6500 TWD, which includes 1.92 USD conversion fee.

For purchases using Wise card, I was unable to use contactless payment at all, it kept failing. Restaurants, malls, and shops that have card machines that can accept card payment by signature will work, you will need to insert your card into the card machines. I think some cashiers were annoyed, this payment mode probably requires more work on their end.

For convenience stores and boba shops, my Wise card won’t work, I think they only accept contactless payment or certain Taiwanese cards?

my Wise card CAN NOT use contactless payment method in Malaysia too,
already check all the setting, turned on all the payment methods,
already made multiple insert card payment and also made ATM machine withdrawal already,
already tested contactless payment at all different type of shopssss & restaurantssss,
but ALL still can not go thru via contactless payment bangwall.gif

I also emailed Wise support on this issue,
they just said my case is ISOLATED CASE, they will fix it but NO TIMELINE.
really frustrated with their this kind feedback ranting.gif

I wonder your Wise card can use contactless payment in Malaysia?
when you receive your card? you are first batch of Wise card user?

I encourage EVERYONE feedback this contactless payment issue to Wise support,
more people complaint, more people boycott Wise, more pressure, then Wise will only fix it.
Now Wise keep on saying i'm just an ISOLATED case, because i'm the only one complain them kau kau...
without contactless payment is really really really TROUBLESOME la.... aiyo... vmad.gif

Yes, I think I failed to use contactless as well. But I am not going to boycott WISE. Just one small matter, besides, don't see any purpose using WISE locally. Main purpose is easy access to foreign currency. The PIN is only 4 digit. As long I can withdraw money from ATM, top up foreign currency at good rates when I am overseas, it is golden.

What if the card machine requires 6 digit PIN?

And yes, contactless seldom works.
