yep second that, tried here in UK for a week, the contactless failed almost every single time, can't remember any successful wave
even BigPay contactless succeeded more frequently than Wise card
*
Not tried the Wise Paywave. But my Bigpay Paywave failed half the time in Europe so I gave up. May be the problem is with Visa itself?

Hi, I’m planning a trip to UK and Europe later this year. Would you recommend I get both bigpay and wise card or just the bigpay card since the wise has a lot of issues based from what i read here? Also, does the wise card has contactless issue with the card itself and does it work fine if I add that card to googlepay for contactless method? Appreciate your input on this. Thanks.
*
My experience. Bigpay Visa Paywave fails often. My normal bank credit card Mastercard contactless never fails.

So I am going to Europe. Should I just left my money in RM or convert in bulk into Euro account first? Before I start swapping my Wise card in Europe? Any difference?

If you predict Euro vs RM will go down, don't buy Euro.
If you predict Euro vs RM will go up, buy Euro now.  laugh.gif

Excluding that, would it be better to change to Euro in bulk and spend from Euro wallet. Or change to Euro piecemeal from RM wallet. Charges wise.

The difference should be less than 1%.
But for peace of mind, it is better convert a small portion to Euro, not very sure it will block the merchant use "Dynamic Currency Conversion" which settle in RM instead of local currency.

Good points. Thanks

Yes, I think I failed to use contactless as well. But I am not going to boycott WISE. Just one small matter, besides, don't see any purpose using WISE locally. Main purpose is easy access to foreign currency. The PIN is only 4 digit. As long I can withdraw money from ATM, top up foreign currency at good rates when I am overseas, it is golden.
*
What if the card machine requires 6 digit PIN?

And yes, contactless seldom works.

OCBC 365 credit card (the best for foreign usage, zero markup, with 0.5% unlimited cashback)
Bigpay prepaid card (second best)
Hong Leong I'm card.
*
May I ask. OCBC 365 has zero markup, does it has transaction fees?

What other cards give higher overseas spending cash back?

Everything is on it's default setting. One thing you can try is to change the spending limit to maximum under Manage > Account Limits > Contactless (this flow is for iOS) and maybe that might trigger the system to allow contactless. It's also worth noting my card is new, I am new to Wise and received my card in November. If all else fails, maybe can try contacting their support team and tell them that the contactless on the card is faulty.
Changed to MAX and contactless still not working.

Revolut's users beware.
This is why I want to know more about RHB's multi currency card. Like, how does it compares to Wise for conversion rates and fees?

It depends on what currency you want to convert. A snapshot for your reference (~ 9:30am)

RHB MCA :

MYR4525 --> USD1000 (all inclusive)

Forex rate gets refreshed every 5-10min

There is a RM20 annual fee for the debit card

$$ in your call account gets to earn daily interest, accrued by end of the month.

https://www.rhbgroup.com/treasury-rates/mul...card/index.html (indicative)
Wise :

MYR4534.66 --> USD1000 (all inclusive)

Thanks a lot. I guess time to give RHB a visit.

I have GBP account in HSBC. Can I buy GBP in RHB and transfer it to HSBC GBP account?

Hi. I intend to send money to UK and hoping for some answers. Thanks in advance.

I read the maximum amount is RM30,000. Can you send multiple of RM30,000 in 1 day? Or is this RM 30,000 limit per month?

Is the amount shown on Wise when doing the transfer the exact amount receivable by the receipient? Or is there other charges. Like using FPX to transfer bank money to Wise to UK? Or the UK bank will impose other charges etc?

Is there something else I need to know about before actually doing it?

Using it extensively for past 1week+ in Germany. I would say it is a big convenience, groceries , ticketing, parking etc. But contactless doesn't seem to be working, so physical pin is needed
*
Contactless doesn't work last year and looks like still not working today.

Thanks. Unfortunately not supported in Samsung Pay. Don't want to add yet another wallet.

Correction, contactless does work maybe due to frequencies of usage / certain limit. I mostly use pin @ retail, but contactless works on parking/tickets

It it doesn't work 8 out of 10 during the Europe trip, it is practically useless. Even if using it the 1st time of the month, makes no different.

Funny there are people thinking there are free lunches in this world.

Most of the "free" stuff are initial promotion or campaign etc.

Hi guys, travelling to china soon and wanna know that whether wise has additional charge or not if:

1) Bind Wise card into Alipay with MYR balances in Wise account - if i pay in China, MYR will be deducted but will there be any conversion fees of 1+% showing up?

2) Bind Wise card into Alipay with MYR converted to CNY which already has conversion fee paid with some MYR balance - if i pay in China, which currency in my WISE account will be deducted first? CNY or MYR?
*
People who have used it says TnG is good with conversion.

There are two types of TNG -
1) TNG Visa Card
2) TNG Ewallet x Alipay +

But both using different conversion rate + fee

In China, no reason to use any card.
