Nohi bus Kamikochi route only can reserved seat through Telephone. Either you called using IDD or brought ticket at Nohi Bus center.

I am currently in Japan and will leave on April.

Two intel I wanna share with you guys:

1. If you are flying with AirAsia, very likely you can catch up with last monorail/tokyu train. You can plan around that.

2. Do not use Digi and Celcom data roaming.
I was thinking I might need my mobile number in Japan for example credit card online transaction, might as well go with digi. The truth is zero service availability.
Then I thought luckily I brought along my second number with Celcom. Quickly I bought nearly rm100 purported data roaming pass. The truth is it barely connects. Keep disconnecting.

Which airport and how fast to clear immigration?

Very obvious is AirAsia X at Haneda.
Currently AirAsia X only got flight to Tokyo & Kansai only.

6 month ago I already mention at here, new timing slot for Air Asia X at Haneda are impossible to get last train.
Haneda reserved all good timing for ANA & JAL around 8pm.
Premium Airlines which is SIA , Philipines , MAS etc etc (8-10pm)
Budget Airlines all push to 11pm onwards.

Took more than 1 hour.
5 flights came in in the window of 30 minutes. However AirAsia is slightly ahead of sequence.
So making to tokyu and monorail is still possible.


I still can't believe how Celcom-digi can advertise for services that do not work on the ground just like that.
I will see this complain go through.

I contacted Celcom support and successful getting stable connection after some trouble shooting.

However, for digi I still have no idea how to get connected.
Below: sim 1 - digi, sim 2 - Celcom.

English speaking customer service ...No idea, because I always get ticket one day early at Takayama HQ.

April, most of people will choose Alpine route over Kamikochi.
But in July - August will be busy because summer hikers going nearby peak hiking.
October will be Kamikochi highest peak due to autumn season. Golden red leaf everywhere. Most beautiful scenic season.

No matter how tired you are....never missed Myojin Pond (Extra 500 admission fees)
This is only Pond I can spend few hours sit there do nothing and enjoy.

Initially plan to stop at Kappabashi Bridge, but since you say this, I will relook at the route for Myojin Pond

Did you start at Kamikochi bus stop or did you stop at Taisho Ike pond and track north east towards Myojin pond?

I read you can request to alight at Taisho Ike pond to save some time because Kamokochi is in between Taisho Ike and Myojin ponds…. If Myojin pond is more scenic then I might do Taisho Ike only if time permits, else will just skip because Myojin is farther than Taisho Ike from Kamikochi bus stop

Both also beautiful but Myokin got more like Jiuzhai Valley feel and that make it extra special.

Start from Kamikochi Bus Terminal > Taisho Bridge > Kappa bridge > Myokin Pond > Myokin Bridge > Kappa bridge (Another side) > Taisho Pond > walk on main road to Teikoku Hotel
This route x 3 times in Summer & Autumn & Winter.

Kamikochi area food are crap. Bring alot food & beverage from Takayama to Kamikochi.
