In Tokyo, Is it worth getting groceries from supermarkets like Gyomu Super? Things like mineral water, snacks, Milk, etc?

Or not much difference getting them from 7-11, Family Mart or Lawson?

Convenient store price will be always higher because of 24 hrs.
15-20% different.

500ml Sapporo beer
Supermarket 400 yen
Convenient store 550 yen
Restaurant 660 yen

Thanks bro, might just stick to convenience store because these Gyomu supermarkets are a bit far, unless I plan to sapu stick, else 3 subway return tickets might cost more than the 20% laugh.gif

By the way bro, do you know if the Tokyo Skytree advance ticket, there’s a booking time there, what happens if we reach before or after the time? I read it’s more on coordinating the crowds going up the lift, but not much info on their website

Bro i dk abt golden week but sakura season alone like jam packed. The bus coductor and train master is forever shouting, sumimassenn please make way. Please squeeze! Please gooo!! Dont stop!! mOVE MOVE MOVE!! I thought, why japanese people so rude one arh

At kyoto the buses were packed to the brim like literally u almost hang outside the door liao. At tokyo wah u see crazy throng of people..damn headache. Mount fuji also..the last person is like hanging in the train and bus. I know coz im that last person, my feet practically like didnt touch the ground for 5 mins until next stop when someone else leaves the train. This one only sakura. I cannot imagine golden week, u sendiri fikir dulu

Then u wan to makan long line of queue..1.5 hours to 2 hours on top of all the standing and walking

After everybody leave, now back to normal. Peaceful haha. Nobody push people walk slower, less queue..almost none actually. Can get seat anytime. Noice

Depends on the date you enter Japan. I went in Oct last year when they just reopened, it took me less than 20 mins to go thru everything and out to arrival hall

I went again before Christmas and the immigration queue alone is 30 minutes

Depends on your flight arrival timing whether it’s a popular or deserted one also. Last last Sunday night I flew into KIX around 9pm, within 30mins of aircraft reaching gate I’m already queueing for airport limo bus.

But other ppl arriving at 3pm around there took 3 hours to clear everything

Anyway tomorrow is the end of my 1st trip to Japan with a small kid (3 years old) and it’s freaking ridiculous just how different it is from all my previous times where only me and wife. There were some days that I literally only have 2-3 hours of sightseeing time a day, more than 50% of my planning thrown out the window cos even the timing of when you can leave the hotel cannot control accurately one.

This has been discussed a couple of times in the last few pages. The JR 7 day pass is only worth it if you are doing more than a Tokyo-Osaka return

Got back from Japan earlier this week, sharing a few info:

1. Tokyo is more than 80% using credit/prepaid card. Not sure where I read people saying Japan prefer cash. Not with Tokyo.

2. I tested among Wise, TnGo and Bigpay visa prepaid card, Wise gives best exchange rate. I tried so you no need to try.
For more info please refer: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...#entry107009880

3. Cash (changed from mid valley money changer) still gives best rate. Though if you do not spend much the discrepancy might not be significant. Might as well just use Wise to make life easier.
