Prices will likely soar due to demand…

Look at how Australia flight prices sky rocketed when their borders opened.
*
well their volume game is quite low. can't cope with demand. the stupid travel visa not helping. Japan on the other hand is very accessible for most of the world.

Actually, I anticipate there will be crazy demand for Japan when the border opens. Lots of people I've spoken to said they want to travel to Japan when border opens.

Also you have 49% of Singaporeans that are ready to travel to Japan with their powerful SGD: https://mothership.sg/2022/08/japan-singapo...el-destination/
*
definitely. hopefully this will drive down flight tickets. and not the other way around cry.gif

anyway my airmiles are ready for whatever the cost

same here...

I think if other people also like us... then no way the flight prices gonna be low for a while...

pray for Air Asia X doing twice daily flights to Haneda to keep the cost low.

and there's always Osaka anyway laugh.gif

Kyoto should be damn nice now without china tourists

Prices will skyrocket once borders fully open, and will likely stay sky high for months (if not a year or more) cos of super high revenge travel demand.
*
hopefully they open same time with Taiwan so the demand will be diluted tongue.gif

but even if they open in the near future, doubt they will scrape PCR testing.

their second covid dose is not even 99%. so tourists are very likely to get infected.

Very nice airlines. From KL to Manila will be A321, the aircraft got personal entertainment on each seat. From Manila to Tokyo will be A330.

Food 3/5
Legroom 4/5
Seat comfortable 4/5

Manila International Airport abit old not modern. Something very crowded. Not a great experience.

one of the terminals linked to a shopping mall though can just walk out. but philipines airlines not under any alliance so can't piggyback the lounge sad.gif

Japan are not friendly to Malaysian wallet. Ringgit are too low. A 3 days Tokyo wide pass ( https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e2361_06.html ) will worth it if u plan to travel far to Mt. Fuji, sking at Gala Yuzawa and Samurai town "Nikko". The pass are Jpy10,180 with unlimited travel on shinkansen and JR trains for 3 consecutive days

There are plenty of nice food around Tokyo but famous food will not be cheap.

Wagyu are really worth it in Tokyo compared to Malaysia. (highly recommend Seiyuxan restaurant near Shimbashi Station)

Things must try when in Japan:
1) Tempura shop (quality a lot better than the best u had in Malaysia)
2) Grill Unagi
3) A5 Wagyu beef + beef tongue BBQ
4) Sashimi n grill fish roe (Tarako Yaki)
5) Ichiran Ramen
For budget meal:
Yoshinoya, Sukiya and Song wu. All 3 have good value set meal (they have english menu for ordering)

When the sun sets, temperature drops very fast. Be prepared and bring extra clothing if u plan to stay out until late

at today's currency rate it's cheaper to spend in Japan than Singapore.

Facing some stumbling block here. Below is current plan. Using Takayama-Hokuriku Area Tourist Pass for Day 1-5

Day 3, want to spend visit Takayama morning market which ends at 12 pm, earliest can arrive at Takayama Station is 9:28 am using the earliest Hida Limited Exp. Earliest bus arrives as 10:25 am. So considering to go to Takayama on the evening of Day 2 instead, both bus and Hokuriku-Hida leaves Kanazawa around 4 pm. Would have prefered to leave later around 6 pm but seems no option. Already booked accommodation, so need to rebook for Day 1 and 2.
Day 1 - Arrive KIX 3:30pm, Haruka + Thunderbird, Kyoto to Kanazawa. Stay Kanazawa.
Day 2 - Kanazawa. Stay Kanazawa.
Day 3 - Hokuriku + Hida, Kanazawa to Takayama. Stay Takayama.
Day 4 - Day trip to Kamikochi. Stay Takayama.
Day 5 - Bus to Shirakawa-Go, then Thunderbird, Kanazawa to Kyoto. Stay Kyoto.
Day 6 - Kyoto. Stay Kyoto
Day 7 - Haruka to KIX

Another option is to swap Shirakawa-Go to Day 3 like this:
Day 3 - Bus to Shirakawa-Go, then to Takayama. Stay Takayama.
Day 5 - Takayama, then bus or train to Kanazawa and Kyoto. Stay Kyoto.

Any thoughts on this, maybe a better suggestion? Thank you  notworthy.gif

Suggestion by ChatGPT:

Based on your current plan, it seems like your main concern is arriving early enough in Takayama on Day 3 to visit the morning market. Given your constraints, I have two suggestions for your itinerary.

Option 1:
Revise your current plan by moving to Takayama on the evening of Day 2. You can then explore the morning market on Day 3 without any time pressure.

Day 1 - Arrive KIX 3:30pm, Haruka + Thunderbird, Kyoto to Kanazawa. Stay Kanazawa.
Day 2 - Kanazawa (explore until the afternoon), 4pm bus or Hokuriku-Hida to Takayama. Stay Takayama.
Day 3 - Takayama morning market, explore Takayama. Stay Takayama.
Day 4 - Day trip to Kamikochi. Stay Takayama.
Day 5 - Bus to Shirakawa-Go, then Thunderbird, Kanazawa to Kyoto. Stay Kyoto.
Day 6 - Kyoto. Stay Kyoto.
Day 7 - Haruka to KIX.

Option 2:
Swap Shirakawa-Go to Day 3 and adjust your itinerary as follows:

Day 1 - Arrive KIX 3:30pm, Haruka + Thunderbird, Kyoto to Kanazawa. Stay Kanazawa.
Day 2 - Kanazawa. Stay Kanazawa.
Day 3 - Bus to Shirakawa-Go, then to Takayama. Stay Takayama.
Day 4 - Takayama morning market, explore Takayama. Stay Takayama.
Day 5 - Day trip to Kamikochi. Stay Takayama.
Day 6 - Bus or train to Kanazawa, then Thunderbird to Kyoto. Stay Kyoto.
Day 7 - Kyoto. Stay Kyoto.
Day 8 - Haruka to KIX.

This option extends your trip by one day, but it allows you to explore the Takayama morning market without any time constraints. Additionally, you'll have more time in Kyoto on Day 7.

Both options have their pros and cons, so it ultimately depends on your preferences and flexibility in extending your trip. If you decide to go with Option 1, remember to rebook your accommodations as needed.
