By paultan...and he said the plastics are better than some C-segment Japs in his blog.

I dunno why people complain about the campro engine.gen.2 auto has reasonably good pickup in city driving - auto gear shifting all under 3k. rpm.

in term of interior, this persona is far more better than vios and some other korean cars.what can i say this car is a bargain for one who are looking for a new sedan car, family oriented and better NVH for just 45K-50K range.demm i luv the blueberry color.

bcoz when gen2 first came into the market....it already gave negative feedback from the customer.so not a good idea to associate with a product that had drawn negative feelings. tongue.gif

yup...still the same engine and company but different attitude from the current MD and during the former CEO,too many mistakes have been done and lead to waste of resources, money and time that lead gen 2 to be problematic at first of its appearance to the consumer.i can't say much just go and test drive the persona.

I dont think there anything wrong with proton taking an existing model and make it as a new model. The persona is not just copy and paste job, it requires additional engineering on how to make the car drive more comfortable w/o losing some of the lotus dna, which is a signature for newer proton cars.

There are other world class car manufacturers did the same. Take volkswagen for iinstance. While the golf is the hatchback, the sedan version of the golf is called the Jetta, while the convertible version is called the EOS.

So i dont see anything wrong with proton putting a different name, furthermore the persona is more acceptable name rather than the horrendous gen2 name.

Guys, i not a proton fanboy, but i admit i am supporting the way Syed Zainal is doing for Proton. So guys dont bashing blindly and at least be constructive when giving out comments. wink.gif

Do u know that for RM50K u can actually get City? Can u PLEASE compare City's quality with Pesona?
*
I understand what u mean, friend. nod.gif. I was thinking the samething at first. But we hard to compare City and persona. City is more on Technology car while persona is just for city drive. Overal the persona not bad for that price we pay. I just can't take the steeling because it look like a toy car plastic steeling. Should change for Waja or perdana steeling, this car will be nice for me!! thumbup.gif Overall, i give 7.5/10 to this car!!

both i think.... hahahaha but quoting from this i would say proton is on the right way.

QUOTE
"Proton has manufacturing processes which are similar to other automakers but compliance has been poor so the quality has not been good," admitted Proton MD, Datuk Syed Zainal Abidin. "We have now pushed harder to instill discipline and greater compliance in all areas and though I have to say we are not 100 percent there yet, it is much better now and you can see it in the Persona."

it is actually a new car.yup it share the gen 2 chassis.so what is wrong with that ? i would say this persona is the corrections what gen 2 has committed with strengthened car body than the previous models.i am not a fan boy but because this model is better why not i addressed all the goodness , LOL.

I believe from the general public who doesn't think much about proton, this type of changes won't really help proton boost up their sales, besides I was hoping was a significant change in terms of engine type, body shape and even the interior still some similiar Gen-2 look and feel. doh.gif

Forget it, If they can't come out something more drastic than persona, they deserve to failed, bankrupt and slaughtered by other car make.

hey..just asking, since everyone here mention that the campro engine dont have enough power in the low rev.
i mean for car noob/ race enthusiast ppl, will we notice the difference?
i'm drivng an iswara sedan, how does it compare with both engine performance in the low rev?
is it noticable? or u need to be a real car enthusiast to notice it?

if u drive a saga/an iswara when you're in 2K-3K RPM range you can feel the car is moving.but with campro engine,it feel a bit sluggish and tend to make the car feel heavier to the driver when in low rev.if am not mistaken the TCU will improve a bit the sluggishness of the campro engine (auto only).it is not just campro, even an alfa romeo boxer engine felt sluggish when it is in low rev.

Yep, after all so much money has been invested in a platform, they can't afford just to throw everything away. In terms of exterior, actually Gen2 is very nice...looks like my old Kia Sephia in fact... thumbup.gif , it's only the interior which people complained about....and poor pick up at low end.

The Persona exterior looks nice enough and looks like most of the interior complains has been addressed.

From what was reported, next year BLM 1.3 (SAGA replacement) is also based on Savvy platform...i hope it's true...at least there'll be more parts to go around longer for Savvy owners (like me...ha-ha), and it'll have more economies of scale...common platform...more parts at lower price...consumer benefits. Simple.

P2 already has the advantage of a common platform with Daihatsu equivalent models/platform being sold worldwide.
P1 has to make use of re-using of existing developed platform for their cars. Can't afford to make a new platform for each car produced....Proton will sure die faster.

Anyway, IMO, looks is not very important to Malaysian buyers....otherwise why so many dino-SAGA, kancil etc are sold?? 3 main factors,(1) Price, (2) Cheap Maintenance (3) FC saving.

The Persona has hit factor 1, factor 2 should be ok since Gen-2 parts banyak available, but 3rd factor unknown yet.

If proton can hit all these factors AND they can keep a good quality and service record for the 1st year of this car, they'll have a serious contender for family car.....but I think Waja is not needed already....unless it's the new Waja with CPS or whatever.
