That sounded a little weird. Have you confirmed that your burning procedures are correct? What software are you using? Have you tried on DVDR yet?

I read that over notebookreview.com. Many people (not all) complains that the screen looks grainy and a few had issues with lighting leak.

Other than that, this person (matt_h1) at this thread complains about failed DVD drive.

Can anyone who owns 1520 confirm this? This laptop has great spec at an unbelievable price. matt_h1's 3DMark06 benchmark is also amazing. But the above issues made me think twice before buying it.

Added on August 5, 2007, 1:02 amAbout the grainy screen. So far about 40% says their screen is grainy. Found the link here http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=141895

Any comments?

I got 3079 for my 3dmark06 on 1280x800. And yes, I'm one of the 40%.

Dell Inspiron 1520
8600 M gt 256MB GDDR2

Graphics Memory Interface 128-bit

Dell Graphic Card Recommendation

This lists the
Graphics Memory Bandwidth 22.4Gbyte

GDDR2 run on 400Mhz
Graphics Memory Bandwidth = 2x400MHzx(128bit /8)byte = 12.8Gbyte

GDDR3 run on 700Mhz
Graphics Memory Bandwidth = 2x700Mhzx(128bit /8)byte = 22.4Gbyte

Refer to Dell Community Forum

So should Dell give us 8600 M gt 256MB GDDR3 ??????????????

dell only gives ddr2 for the 8600gt, hence the price difference with asus g1s/macbookpro15"

but since they said graphics memory bandwidth is 22.4, i think we can sue them for false advertising whistling.gif

this is dell's mistake. even if u call them they will just tell u they are sorry and in the terms and conditions has been stated that dell reserve the right to bla bla bla..

they should get the facts right before making such ad.

Just the 'Learn more' button show error on the GDDR3 , all listed as GDDR2 at the main site on Malaysia Dell.No use calling Dell , you can't get rebate since only one page they display wrongly is the bandwidth. sweat.gif
