The bank staff at the booth called me last night said that her superior boss had clarified with the HQ in KL and confirmed that debit card is a MUST!

Excuse me, what was the fuss about the debit card? The rate is good enough to offset any annual fee, let alone that it is free.

TS, it seems like your thread is getting traction, doesn't seems like less people are talking about it.

This is one of the better products coming from from SCB CASA with interest rates that could challenge the FDs yet with flexibility of deposit and withdrawal...

As for the debit card, just get it as you can withdraw from ANY bank ATM with MEPS without the withdrawal fee of RM4 which is waived after you meet the min deposit amt.

But note not to withdraw from ATM (non-bank) located inside 7-11, the withdrawal fee is not waived off according to the bank.

You will be charge rm4 by SCB for each withdrawal, not CIMB. The rm4 will be waived by scb, so not sure if you got it right... Nothing to do with CIMB as far as I m concerned

Edit typo

It took me roughly one hour to open the account, get a debit card and reset the pin at the SCB atm.

They didn't try to sell me anything but I already own 2 credit cards with them.

YOU select the unit trust (with the minimum 2.5 % sales charge), so YOU need to blame YOURSELF if you selected one with shitty return.

Overall this deal is great, you only need to put 1k a month in unit trust for one year and can enjoy the fat 2% bonus interest on the PrivSaver. So the interest return will definitely be unbeatable, if you feel uncomfortable with the potential that you get negative return from the unit trust investment, stick to the 4.0% for deposit and spend.

please be aware of the latest T&C - where you need a higher commitment of RM6k per month to get 2% on the first 100k and it is only valid for 12m (if you are a new account holder - never get invest % before). RM1k a month only gets you 2% for the first 20k.

https://av.sc.com/my/content/docs/campaign-tc-psa.pdf

do your own calculation on whether the sales charge is worth the 2% extra interest.

Parked. I am the psa user too. i am not max the 6%, only 4% so far. but it is better than any FD now.
as long as satisfied:
1. credit card rm1k monthly
2. rm3k deposit monthly

Then i get 4% in my account monthly credit^^
