FYI, for those who already have credit card with SCB and already have online account can opt for no debit card. it just that you can't withdraw money from ATM, you have to transfer to other bank if you wish to withdraw.
*
Not quite correct. You can opt of debit card if u already have cc.

U can withdraw from your credit card by selecting current account.

But please take note that. For PSA u won’t earn the 1.5% if u do not have a debit card.

And their debit card is free.

When i open the account in the branch on 5th Feb, the officer told me that debit card is not free, RM8 per annum and I will still get 1.5% as long as i spent 1k on credit card.
*
U mean now u go without debit card?

Then u won’t earn the interest of 1.5%

Give it a try and see how it goes next month. 2nd of March would show already whether u have it or not.

My partner encounter exactly the same. The officer at first say no need etc. Then end up not getting.

QUOTE(Eurobeater @ Feb 11 2020, 02:57 PM)
U sure the debit card is free? I've never heard of any bank offering that before. Even SCB
*
U mean u never heard any bank offers free debit card?

😂😂😂

Time to visit a branch with kind souls.

it's quite weird that w/o debit card then can't get the 1.5%, because from the product page, this 1.5% is coming from the spend by using credit card not debit card.

Spend

Spend RM1,000 on your credit card to earn 1.5% p.a. bonus interest.

How to automate your savings?

Set-up Standing Instructions (IS) for bill payments.

Note: The eligible Bonus Interest of 1.5% p.a. for spend category is for maximum deposit balance of RM100,000 only. Eligible Customers must use Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad credit card.

All of the bank do offer free debit card for basic saving account, this is per BNM guideline. But since PSA is not basic saving account, thus the officer told me we need to pay RM8 is valid.
*
My dear,

You can twist and argue however you want. I’m telling from experience. My partner manage to get back the interest as I’m a priority so the RM plays a role in this.

You may try but I doubt you can get the missing month as my partner’s colleague did not manage to. Reason being the colleague is the one who did not want the card and signed the tnc acknowledging that will mean forfeiture of the 1.5%

And if u like to refer to the product page, perhaps you should spend some time reading the full tnc as well.

It has been stated in all tnc. Even With the latest revised one, it is still stated there- please refer clause 15 if in doubt.

Click here and have a read.

To save yourself and others from future trouble, go back the bank or request online for a card tag to it.

Update:
Opened account today, and was told the UT invest offer is mutually exclusive of one another. So pick:
i. 2% interest of monthly average balance @ 2.5% sales fee
OR
ii. 1.5% sales charge for initial and subsequent UT invest if the initial amount invested is RM5,000 (promo - valid until end Feb 2020)

I have existing SC cards, account opening took about half hour - bulk of the time bank staff was keying things into system.

Personally will go for the 4%

Worth a go at Franklin templeton funds. Been investing in it for 2 years over and return is over 26% so far.

That number alone is meaningless. Did your funds outperform the MSCI world index (including costs) since the day you bought?

Number is meaningless?

Why bother PSA 6%

That’s probably meaningless too.

I did ask the same question when I was opening SC acc and I was told that only spending after the acc opening matters.

If so, then too bad!
Have to wait till April 2020.
*
Pls chill. You’ll def be paid the card spending interest.

It usually turns up 1-2 working days of the following month.

Used for years and so far never missed. Unless the investment / insurance portion, sometimes it will delayed and paid together the following month.

It doesn’t matter spending is before or after. As long spending is done.

It has monthly statement.

What’s weird with it?

Unless u hold a cc too then it’s under consolidated statements that show everything there. Or u opt out as a stand-alone statement

Anyone try Standard Chartered SmartDirect in the SCB apps?
would like to know what is the pros and cons for this function.

Standard charges applicable. Reflected next day which is pretty quick.

If you’re a PB client speak to RM about it for preferential rates.

Read the T&C again in whole sentence.
You're get what it mean.

First is, how're going to get a debit card from SCSB if you got a debit card from SCBMB? Or vice versa?

Next, can PSA account be tagged with 2 debit cards?
*
Hmmm...

PSA Can be tagged to multiple cards, including credit cards.

Good to share.

violeCookie101 confirmed that you can tie another debit card.

Please reach to SCBMB and and SCSB to get the additional debit card and get it to tag to PSA as per Cookie101 confirmation.

Eurobeater please put this into Page#1. Credit to Cookie101.
*
Pls be cautious on this.

Multiple cards that I’m referring to are all from scbmb. You can’t simply chose or ask for scsb one tagged to it. They are different products.

One is conventional and one is Islamic.

I got my first debit card that was tagged to just one Acc when I first opened account with them.

Subsequently they launched the PSA And they tagged my 1st debit card to PSA.

When I joined their priority later on, they issued me a priority debit card tagged to PSA as well.

That’s how I got 2 debit cards and credit card all tagged to PSA.

QUOTE(??!! @ Jan 13 2021, 03:04 PM)
Just wondering what's the benefit of tagging banyak2 card to the PSA?
*
There isn’t.

1st debit card was compulsory.
Then after knowing it can be tagged to credit card, I request so don’t need extra card to bring out for any withdrawals.

2nd card was given for upgrade and comes with paywave.

When I wanted to ask for cancellation, the lady told me my first card is under non renewable so can just hold until it expires in 2023.

So basically just two cards will do. One debit + one credit.
Credit card is for convenience since can withdraw from savings using it without needing to bring one extra card. Not many banks offer such benefits.

I am not sure if I understand correctly.
You mean if credit card is tagged to PSA ..can use that credit card to withdraw cash from PSA account and use it like a ATM card?
*
Yes! That’s right.

You just need to be sure to select withdrawals from savings instead of cash advance.

If you know what you are doing and have a thorough explanations of the products, the bonus interest is simply an icing on top.

I had the same perception many years ago until I meet a good RM who introduced the investment and explained the entire subscription.

And so far, still have 3 running out of 5.
Averagely two of them are making returns of around 6% yearly for the past 5 years.
While the other one which I subscribed two years ago was giving returns of ~4%pa, after May, it has jumped to almost 14% as of Dec 20.

Disclaimer: This is not an advertisement nor enticing anyone to buy without understanding the risk. Just sharing my two cents.
