so back to original post about the cikgu, if he has a problem teaching english/malay to students because of the language barrier doesnt it mean he's not qualified to be one? if you go to any language class, easiest way for someone to pickup a language is by using their own mothertongue as a reference, as a translation, etc. so the teacher maybe have to be proficient in both Chinese+English/Malay

and jus soli doesnt extend to the parent of the children who are born in US. u want us citizenship? u still need to meet the requirement, one of which, be proficient in english!

Sometimes I don’t understand this kind of people. Claim they are malaysian, but talk about memperkasakan bahasa mandarin as if you can’t survive without mandarin. My bosses from germany don’t know shit about mandarin but they are doing fine. Heck even a regional manager from china speaks english to us not mandarin when we have regional meeting.

Just leave the duty of memperkasakan bahasa mandarin to PRC. Stop comparing national language and optional language that not everyone find useful.

not everyone can speak every language, there will be a small amount of people that can only speak one language that they speak since young. that doesnt make these people any less Malaysian than you or me.

Kedua, walaupun memang terdapat segolongan kecil orang yang tidak mampu bertutur dalam Bahasa Melayu dengan fasih, tetapi kerana mereka bukan tidak mempunyai kewarganegaraan yang sama taraf dengan puak putera bumi, maka tidak mustahak untuk mereka mempelajari atau memfasihkan diri dalam bahasa tersebut.

Akhirnya, SJKC memang patutlah memastikan graduan-graduannya fasih dalam tiga bahasa. Jangan benarkan puak-puak putera bumi ini memandang rendah terhadap sekolah-sekolah vernakular atau graduan-graduan sekolah vernakular. Lebih baik, kalau boleh pastikan pelajar-pelajar sekolah graduan mampu menguasai dunia pertandingan Bahasa Melayu, maka tiada lagilah alasan-alasan si puak putera bumi ini untuk cuba memansuhkan sekolah-sekolah vernakular.

Zaman saya masih bersekolah, juara-juara pertandingan Bahasa Melayu adalah daripada kaum-kaum bukan Melayu. Kaum-kaum bukan Melayu perlu menunjukkan kepada kaum Melayu bahawa penguasaan Bahasa bukanlah dunia yang diterajui mereka.

That’s a fact. Mandarin is the national language of PRC. I am not saying you should stop learning your ancestor’s language. I am just saying that stop comparing the importance of learing your ancestor’s language with our national language. That’s all. What is so racist about that?

because most chinese malaysian do not identify with PRC anything at all la. to them their language is malaysian chinese language, not PRC language. even PRC mandarin and our mandarin got some differences with words usage, tones, sentence structure and pronunciation.

but you all asyik jer say nak say ooo PRC worshipper asyik nak cakap bahasa PRC. whats so difficult to recognise that chinese malaysian are equally malaysian as you? why sikit sikit nak threathen orang balik china? sikit sikit want to say PRC this PRC that. as if orang cina here berhutang with malay people need to beg from malays to remain as a malaysian.

even youngsters in rumah panjang deep in the jungle of Sabah Sarawak, orang asli in Pahang jungle, can converse in malay and their mother's tongue,

so what excuse can u give, for someone who live in big cities, have better school facilities, better teachers, has alot of ppl from different races around you, but fail to grasp malay language?

Barely and being proficient are two different things. Also, no one said about them not being Malaysian, we're just saying it's fucked up that's you're Malaysian but don't know BM.
