This, and I'd say it worked splendidly for them. The lower class sees the unequal wealth distribution concentrated in the other race, supported by those rich people ranking (not knowing those are strictly reported wealth) so in turn fight for 'favorable' policies. The other race mostly middle class sees this and knows the policies only benefit the upper class, yet somehow still hate the lower class more for voting them in instead of the upper class for creating the situation in the first place, which is exactly what they wanted.

Upper class perpetuate NEP and laugh all the way to Cayman Island. Remember Muhyiddin case, even a C company is considered bumi with the right connection.

the majority of muslims in malaysia have no clue what Islam actually teaches. they just blindly follow melei/indian tradition. a lot of what meleis follow is influenced by indian tariqat (missionaries) which are based on indian cultural interpretation of Islam. so they tend to have the wrong priorities. they prioritize things that are actually not that important in Islam. for example, the prophet emphasized akhlak (character) and iman (belief) but the tariqats tend to focus on spiritual purity - even at the expense of physical cleanliness sometimes. its just the wrong way to interpret Islamic teachings. although not entirely sesat, the community suffers an illness because we have the wrong priorities.
