As time goes by, the number of viewers who cannot watch HD will fall to the point that it would save Astro and MyTV money to give them a free TV, just to be able to turn off all the legacy SD duplication

All TV sudios here are now HD capable, anything SD now is for backwards compatibilty or to reduce transmission cost. HD was charged at 2x price of a SD channel.
Astro waste satellite bandwidth by duplicating the same channel in both SD and HD versions. |

Least local channels in DTT has better MPEG4 (HD) kuality than astro one. Unless if astro start using MPEG4 on local channels... Astro waste satellite bandwidth by duplicating the same channel in both SD and HD versions. |

Legacy box users still exists out there... That's why they got to simulcast almost all channels in both SD and HD.Astro waste satellite bandwidth by duplicating the same channel in both SD and HD versions. And, they wanna encourage customers to subscribe to at least Starter Pack, which includes HD subscription. Just in case you aren't aware on Astro's recent changes in subscription rate packages, refer here: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...entry96979366 |

QUOTE(dayojah @ Jun 15 2020, 12:46 PM) Well, it ain't the case for Astro Astro and Measat is like same company.... Same founded by Ananda Krishnan, but under different branding... "Own satellite, but satellite itself is not ours, but still our satellite..." ![]() It's like "Own satellite, so use own bandwidth", so whether there's a wastage or not, not for us to decide also Astro taking their sweet time to migrate its legacy box users, plus there's still some customers still doesn't have HD subscription.... So for them, it's like "What's the hurry anyway? |

recently bought Hisense TV come with built in DVB-T2 tuner & portable outdoor digital antenna, when scan can receive all the malaysia and singapore channel. But the problems was when i switch off TV for a day and switch it on again, all channel will be lost and i need to auto re-scan again to find the channel. if i switch off TV for few hours, the channel still there, but if switch for a day, mostly the channel will lost and need to re-scan again. Problem on the TV or portable outdoor digital antenna?

It will be good if Awesome TV comes to Myfreeview TV platform.
Hope to see more channels launch exclusively on MYTV Myfreeview platform only. |

Speaking of MYTV Myfreeview platform, yeah Awesome TV should quickly fast-fast launch on MYTV Myfreeview and I also hope RTM can launch RTM HD Sports 2 channel ( because they have a lot of sports programmes/shows to show), a music channel (multi-genre) and joint venture with education ministry and its relevant agencies to launch a few channels of TV Pendidikan.
Also I want to see more English and Chinese channels (with Japanese, Korean and Chinese content) launch on MYTV Myfreeview platform by other companies. This post has been edited by Electrobiz: Jun 17 2020, 08:15 PM |

No point launching RTM BES and RTM HD Sports over other TV platforms, if launch over ASSTERUK (Astro) this will give ASSTERUK more monopoly over the market. Their NJOI platform is already a monopoly over the market what more their Byond.
At least if RTM BES and RTM HD Sports is broadcasted exclusively over MYTV Myfreeview platform this will give uniqueness and an edge for MYTV Myfreeview over other TV platforms as no other TV platform has these channels. This will make people who will want to watch RTM or MYTV Myfreeview channels only purchase MYTV official decoders/DVB-T2 decoders or TVs with built in IDTV or DVB-T2 tuners. Then only MYTV can make money. Give everything to ASSTERUK, ASSTERUK will be laughing all the way to the bank. UHF aerial is the way to go, UHF aerial is here to stay, UHF aerial is also the future, bringing digital and interactive services alike. UHF antannae broadcasts have alraedy gone digital, no need other platforms.RTM should rethink their decision on this. I don't watch ASSTERUK and I know a lot of people who had ASSTERUK alraedy cut the cord and are watching something else. I watch MYTV Myfreeview and TM HyppTV/UnifiTV only. I like watching RTM BES and RTM HD Sports on MYTV Myfreeview platform. |

QUOTE(shaun_kok @ Jun 9 2020, 04:40 AM) An update regarding the reception quality of MYTV MUX 2 channels in Johor Bahru area. How's the 650MHz signal readings now at your place there in JB? Is it the same signal readings as 698MHz previously, or slightly higher? Pic 1 is on 698MHz (existing MUX 2 signal from Gunung Pulai + Skudai) Pic 2 is on 650MHz (MUX 2 from Pelangi transmitter) (which I don't expect it would be receivable in my part of JB. Transmitter power for both transmitters should be high - very high to combat foreign interference) According to MYTV, Pelangi transmitter could be received as far from Kulai, Senai and Pasir Gudang, while Skudai transmitter could be received as far from Pontian and Kukup island. Since many terrestrial viewers in Johor Bahru maintains separate antennas for Malaysian and Singapore transmissions due to different directions of the transmitters, MYTV transmitters are strategically placed in such a way that Johor Bahru viewers could somehow receive good quality signal using outdoor antenna pointing to either Gunung Pulai or Bukit Batok transmitter, depending to the area. It is also meant for better quality reception indoors in JB area. Please retune to 650MHz, if reception is possible or when signal is gone, as 698MHz will no longer be transmitted very soon. Interference may be still possible from Indonesian analogue transmissions in some areas. And also how's Indonesia analogue TV reception for RCTI and SCTV at your place now? |

The signal readings has slightly increased for 650MHz when compared to 698MHz due to slightly lower frequency band. |
