Hi, I just moved in Serdang and got the Iburst USB type 3 days ago, still a noob on this thing. I did read the previous threads and google the topic but still have some doubts. Will be grateful if anyone can answer them:

(1) How reliable is speedtest.net? From Speedtest result, I got 900+ kb/s for download and 200+ kb/s for upload (just as kevyon6 got). But the iBurst interface just showed me 200+ kb/s for download and 100 kb/s for upload. Is it normal?

(2) I checked the Local Area Connection Status. It actually showed 'Limited or no connectivity'. Anyone mind to help me understand?

(3) What is the max download rate you get when using BT download software? I am using BitComet 0.97 and getting max rate around 30 kb/s, common? Also, read from this thread, Izzi is not suitable for p2p download? They will warn the user for p2p user?

Sorry guys, really not a computer person. Hope the questions are not too silly.

Thanks in advance for answering.

1) the interface is showing real time speed. did u monitor the interface when the speedtest.net is running? it should be running close.

2) u using vista? i'm not sure about this perhaps someone with better technicalities could answer u that but i don't think it will affect your connectivity coz i was using vista previouly and its running fine. (if its not broken better don't touch it tongue.gif)

3)well, i'm using bitcomet and thunder xunlei. i think the number of seeds and the locations of the seeds/peer affect the maximum download you can get for that particular file. I'm using xunlei and i'm using almost all the bandwidth from my izzi. below is my screenshot. those users that have been tracked down for illegally downloading movies and series and became a seeder are being warned. so better don't download any hot movies or series.

Thanks Kevyon6. I ran the Speedtest and monitored the Iburst interface at the same time. Speedtest - 900+kb/s but Iburst interface - 300+ kb/s only.

I am using Window XP. The connection yesterday (31 Dec around 11pm) was superb, around 1000 kb/s download! And my Bitcomet download was average 30 - 40 kb/s. But today at the daytime dropped back to <10 kb/s. It really confused me. How come the difference can be so great!?

I have tuned my MTU to 1400 too.

Read the previous thread. Someone actually said he was warned when downloading CSI using P2P.

I'm wondering since it's a wireless broadband, if I play an online game like GunZ online or something like that does it spike or it stays in consistent speed? I'm living in USJ 2 so getting an excellent signal shouldn't be a big problem... JUST wondering... biggrin.gif hmm.gif

call me stupid but im a sucker for things like this...damn moron, haha
anyway, here's my story...bought the usb modem about 3,4 motnth ago, cant remember coz the counter when u go online has been reset(thats another story)...it was OK,not good, but OK...coz where Im staying there's not many tower..hell,the nearest is at where,i dunt even know...
but when i bring it to my workplace...always between 95-100%...coz in a radius of 500m,there's 3,three,3 TOWERS...downloading using ares...5mb file completed less than 10minutes(is this fast?)
ive complained a lot,heck,may be every week...but at least they call u back when u posted a complaint...whether ur satisfy or not,up 2 u...
i got to play exteel yesterday but cant later on coz the ping was high...damN!!!
ive downloaded torrent a few times...ive got 25G of files dwnload using bitcomet but never received a single letter from ISP saying i cant do that ot that...stop dwnloading though coz just formatted my pc and im too lazy 2 set it up again....
i dunt really trust speedtest.net or any kind of speed test thingy...as long i can load my page without breaking the keybord...im quite satisfied...nothing's perfect in this world but dunt stop complaining...if u can make it better, better do it urself...
lastly...my friend bought a pc card from celcom which initially intended to buy a usb device.i hear damn correctly that this 2 jack@$$ salespersons was selling the usb devices at 500++...say it can reach 3.6 shitty per seconds but after paying up...al my friend gets was a pc card with limited puss per seconds...n he cant even get the card slotted into d laptop...it's a shitty world,hahahaha... flex.gif

hmm... iZZi very location dependency. Previously i used to complaint alot to their customer service. Anyway, my iZZi pro rite now back to normal speed already. Before this, connection speed is like shit. I think if any1 of u guys faced the same problem tat i faced be4 (very very slow connection speed). Try to bark them for month. Then they will do sumthing in ur area. Rite now they r going to place another seed in Pandan Indah area on 30th/Jan. I hope after this will get even better speed.

I bt alot but iZZi nvr send me any warning letter. Mayb i bt not as many as other bt expert. My opinion who ever wan to subscribe iZZi, try to lend 1 from ur fren who already subscribed to iZZi and test at ur area. While u sign the form, tat its, u need to pay 1k++ up front. Do homework before u subscribe.

ya, i quit satisfy with my iZZi c/speed now, just 1 more thing is piss me off. Whenever, i try to play multiplayer game, most the time i get timeout error. I duno wat happened. Mayb i try to do port forwarding c whether can improve or not.

HONEST REvIEW of IZZI

Right now, I'm typing this post on izzi ISP with that setup box with antenna (not the PC card). It's running on PPPoE (Lan cable, not USB). This setup box belongs to company, so I just take home and use a few days.

First of all, I want to say that when I plug into my computer, it gives me the "LIMITED OR NO CONNECTIVITY" icon on my taskbar. But once I plug in everything and login, it works fine.

Speed is....... lousy..... My BT downloads is giving me 1% of the speeds i get in office. Setting all the same! same computer!

But to be fair, the nearest station is blocked by a hill, and I'm staying in apartment on low floor. To be fair, when I saw demo in lowyat, speed also lousy. To be fair, inside PWTC also lousy.

BUT... when field tested in Dataran Merdeka and Bangsar Telawi where i yum char and see girl... fuh.... speed boleh tahan.

in conclusion If you want to take up izzi, and its a heavy investment, please arrange with the tech team to come your area and TEST FIRST. I know i know... the pretty promoter girl want to press you to sign up at the shopping centre. Tell her dun worry, if the tester come, and you satisfy, you not only sign with her, but you also buy her xmas gift.

Remember... TEST FIRST... your area might have lousy signal.

I hope this helps the lowyat.net community.

Go back to ur 1st problem, u said "LIMITED OR NO CONNECTIVITY". R u using xp sp2? I have the same problem just like u... last time. U need to go online look for the patch for ur xp. Either bad for ur location or not, u need to do sumthing be4 u can start u iZZi.

1.Identify the nearest iZZi wireles seed reception location. No choice u have to carry tat stupid modem hop up wif long cable walk here n there to find the best location for it. How to test it? simple, everytime u place the modem at the new place. goto speedtest.net do a diagnose speed test. Tat wat i did.

2. place the iZZi modem near window. Or better if place at the balcony there( meant ask u to surf outside only). Rite now i place the modem beside the window.

3. When raining, speed can goes very low.

4. cross ur finger hope u don get disconnected.

feel lazy already to complain. 30% to 40% advertise speed all the way, day and night. Kelana Jaya already too crowded with izzi customer, and still, the Giant KJ still do their promotion...dang.

Guess what, I talked to one of izzi CS, and he told me that, each antenna will support 50 user simultanously. Yeah right...no wonder I get no more than half of the speed because KJ user all heavy downloaded XD

I've cancelled this sorry ass of a service already. When I was there, there was one other person to collect his refund cheque and I saw another one going in as I was leaving with a box under his arm, presumably to cancel too.

They didn't ask why I wanted to cancel at all, they must be used to it by now I think...
