To be honest, it's quite hard to get a balanced speaker in the 3 fields you mentioned.

i didnt expect the MX5021 and S730D perform poorly in the tests.
instead, the famous and affordable GMX 2.1 takes the lead.

maybe its time for me to audition the gmx...
mx5021 is really weak in bass, despite its thx logo imprinted.
and S730D, in my ears, sound normal, but as what hwz said, it shows no distortion in high volumes, best for SPL users.

Yup, looks like the Klipsch GMX takes the coveted Gold winner's award! Impressive for a speaker that was released a while back ago.

Just add another Rm10-20 and go for m3300, since you at Penang, i would suggest you to buy Edifier at Precess, Bukit Jambul.

I got mine from there too. Price was about the same at LYN.

Any suggestion for the 5.1 speakers with a budget within 500-700.
Mainly gonna use it for listening music (priority), movies and games.
FYI, I'm a metal song fan. So.. any recommendation??

M3300 is around RM230 if im not mistaken. btw i'm currently studying in pj, so that would not be a problem to go down to lowyat.
just wondering, i have a VS4121, a lot of times people compare these two model, the VS4121 and M3300, some say m3300, but never state the reasons, could anyone elaborate more?

Can consider the Edifier DA5000 or R501mk2 at RM399. Powerful blaster for metal song

Added on March 17, 2009, 3:50 pmM3300 is better than Vs4121 interms of sound quality ,clarity can be heard in M3300, 4121 totaly lose kao kao if comapre side by side with M3300, i own 4121 too, suffer with this speaker , i bought one X-fi and hope can improve the sound a bit , but it still disapointed me really lousy if compare with other model that available in today market. I believe many ppl(music lover) agree with me that VS4121 is Sxxk You must listen to it to believe.

gosh! now you make me feel like changing my speaker, should i sell it to my friend and get the M3300? because im quite a music lover too....but when it comes to technical part, im not really good about it

Simply open a female voice song such as faye wong or other with M3300, then listen back to ur 4121, u will notice that u wan to destroy ur 4121 (thats wat pop up in my mind when i using my 4121 now) Trust me bro ,u wont regret with the upgrade from 4121 to M3300 for ur lovely music, without a nice set of satelites , music is lame

alright, now im really geram about my speaker already.... eventhough i haven't compare anything yet. will compare it when i'm free

does good sound card give a decent boost to my s330? Im using realtek ALC883 on board sound card now..

i own a m3300 and my friend using 4121.. for music.. no doubt.. must be m3300 due to the high clarity. 4121 is no where near it. After 3 years, still my favorite !

i tried it with my x-fi fatality , it does increase the soundstage, and overall sound more detail, but the sound that come out from x-fi is not warm , a bit ''cold'' in my opinion, i think soundcard such as ooAoo SQ210A and Audiotrack Prodigy HD2 will better than x-fi in driving S330, really wish to try it.Tried my fren's sq210a with his 4121, it is very hard to determine the differnet with 4121 but i can detect that the sound is better than my 4121+ x-fi, i bet if pairing it with a nice speaker such as S330 , the result will very obvious.I currently using my S330 with onboard realtek alc663, not satisfy with it , but due to no money now, so ... have to close one eye first

Why people compares m3300 with vs4121?
Because they are in the same price range, rm200-rm240.

If compare m3300 with vs4121, m3300 is much more better than vs4121 in term of clarity, treble, and also quality (due to the AL's problem).
Why vs4121 still able to survive in the market with it's low clarity and low quality? IMO, it's because of it's bass, some user they don't really know how to choose a pair of good speaker, they go for strong bass instead of the clarity.

But to be honest, 1st patch of vs4121 really kicks ass!

FYI, you will be able to get a pair of m3300 with only rm220+-, it depends on how do you negotiate with them btw, add another rm20+- you can get m3300sf which has better design than m3300.
